Reply to "history,,, and now"

There are some people on here that need to do some study on political reality . It is incorrect to label things as Republican or Democrat when viewing down thru recent history .
The Republican party , at it's inception was the Liberal party , and the Democrats were the Conservative party .  By definition , Conservatives strive to maintain the status quo , meaning power and money mostly . Liberals desire a change for the better.
So it was the Conservatives who started the KKK, etc.
The Election of FDR and the revolution of the Democrats taking power in the Great Depression , the Democrats came up with Liberal policies (which , BTW, saved not only the US, but the world as well ).   So , the Democratic party became the party of Liberals, and the Republican party became the Conservatives (not overnight but that is the way it shaped out)
When LBJ signed the Voting Rights Act he stated "I have just lost the South for the Democratic party for a generation " .   You seem giving Black people the right to vote threatened the power structure. Then , Nixon committed treason and was able to get himself elected and set up his "Southern Strategy "  (Google it , I ain't got time to write it all here)
So , that race based policy turned the White South to the Republican party .

My point being that all the stuff you said about the Democratic party up there, is actually things the Conservatives did ,
When talking about our history over the past 200 years, it is best to use the terms "Liberal" and "Conservative" instead of party affiliation . They have switched .
