I find it interesting that he told his Pakistani surgeon that he needed to stop the war in Afghanistan. A great many people blame Pakistan for keeping the war going. Every Afghani I've spoken to hated Pakistan and wanted to go to war with them.

If you've ever read much about the Soviet war in Afghanistan, you will know how big a part Pakistan played. They sent troops into Afghanistan, not just advisors, to fight the Soviets. In most cases this was against the wishes of local Afghani commanders. Pakistan also insisted that all assistance going to Afghanistan during the Soviet invasion had to be approved by Pakistan first.
