Reply to "Home Town Proud!"

Bill, you and other shallow, clueless theocrats can rant and rave all you want about this kind of issue. The fact remains, however, that we live in the most free and generous society in the world in regard to religious freedom.  A very major reason for that is that in this nation, the Constitution  prohibits such entanglements of government and religion as you and your unfortunate ilk would like to see.  There will ever be among us such  simplistic, emotion-driven persons such as you who fail to understand and who refuse to accept the wisdom of the Constitution in prohibiting government from exercising control over religious practices--including the kind of government control inherent in sponsoring, directing, or controlling public prayer at government-sponsored events such as public school athletic contests.

The Facebook whining by others similarly confused and deluded as yourself will accomplish nothing other than to make the participants feel like they have accomplished something, when in fact all they are doing is proclaiming to the world their incapability to understand the genius of the framers of the Constitution in preventing government from meddling in religion.  None of the irrelevant anecdotal information dredged up by David Barton or other pipsqueak Christian nationalists will change any of this.  The Constitution has legitimately prevailed and the Lauderdale County public school system has done the wise and proper thing.  Now the know-nothing crackpots can move on to their next project--to unjustly vilify Superintendent Valentine and Mr. Irby, the school system's attorney, for the decision that they were obligated under law to make.

To eliminate any speculation about where I am coming from:   Readers of this post, please understand that I am no atheist. I am a Christian and a conservative one at that, and that is entirely consistent with my position in this matter and entirely consistent with scripture (See Romans 13: 1-7).
