Bill it's apparent you don't read history. Otherwise you would know that several of our founding fathers were deists, not Christians.
John Adams himself signed the Treaty of Tripoli in 1797. In case you have never read it, this line here is the kicker "As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion,"
So there you have it. A founding father himself clears up that argument for us Bill. You don't have to agree, you don't have to interpret it. It's right there in plain 18th Century English.
