We see in the past totalitarian states, like Nazi Germany, Italy and the Communist bloc used all kinds of excuses to shut down criticism of the government as being dangerous to "National Security." Eventually any criticism of the government, officials or even complaining about low wages and corruption are deemed threats to the state. That's why we have a Bill of Rights and free speech.

Hate speech is one thing and calling for people to commit crimes are serious breeches but it's a fine line we walk when we close down free speech that the government or people believe to be harmful. The Supreme Court has set certain limits like it's not legal to yell "Fire" in a crowded theater when there is no fire. We don't need extra laws. That's why the liberal ACLU defends the Nazi's when their right to speak is denied.

What's "truly frightening" is the ignorance and racism the American people are fed, and we don't have only "Newt" to thank for that. We have a 24/7 corporate spin machine which tries to pass itself off as a "free press" but acts as PR for the Government and Corporate Empire, spewing out lies, nonsense, subtle racism and fear.

We definitely need a "National Dialogue" but a real dialogue and not the fear spin they pass off as discussions in the corporate media. Our lives depend on it. We are in more danger of a fascist government here then al Qaeda.

To begin with the Airline Bombings case has fallen apart which is why it has fallen off the front pages. A few of the suspects were let go, some were detained without charges and others charged with other related offenses I think. It's hard to keep up because the case has disappeared from the new. It's disappeared because there is no case but I think some of the members were discussing it.

They had no bombs or materials and a couple didn't even have passports. The plot was not even feasible and was mainly in talking stages. Again, more "Aspiration then Operational" as most of these cases are. Nine Times out of ten the plots are devised by a government agent that infiltrates an odd bunch of losers and malcontents that are not even capable of committing these crimes and then prosecutes them for talking about it or "planning it" when it was the agent's plan to begin with.

Also, if the poster is so concerned about saving a US City they should be more concerned about beefing up security at Nuclear Power plants, Chemical Plants, and our ports and such. Our analyses has said these all have inadequate security but we are told there is no money. It's too costly. Yet they have money to give the obscenely wealthy Tax Cuts which they don't need and wage a war for oil profits in Iraq.

Yes, there are people who hate us but does the poster ask why? These bombers have stated their reasons are because of our crimes against their people. Same as in Israel. The Palestinians are responding to crimes against them and they were not the first to use terrorism. The Zionist terrorist groups formed in the 20's and were well know for acts of terrorism against Palestinian civilians and the British. They drove the British from Palestine.

These radical groups are a small minority among the average Muslim or Arab person who want no part of them but they see the crimes committed against their region. The more crimes and atrocities we commit the more their groups grow. They are trying to overthrow our puppets, and other dictators, install strict Islamic States and drive the West from the region. The West has dominated the region, for the oil, overthrowing governments, installing repressive puppets and suppressing democratic and labor movements since WW1. Average Muslim and Arab people reject al Qaeda but also resent Western domination. The more crimes we commit the more their hatred grows.

We are in Iraq and the Mideast to steal the oil for western corporations, it is not even for the American peoples profits, who are sending their children to die and be maimed while we at home are being gouged at the pump. But the corporate media leads us around in circles.

Of course we can't protect against every act of terrorism, no matter what kind of Police State or security Systems we have. Look at people like that Ted Kazinsky, the "uni-bomber" or Eric Rudolph, the abortion clinic bomber, who also bombed Gay bars and the Atlanta bombing, and how about Timothy McVeigh. I guess we better start "racial profiling " and taking away the rights of white males who were in the military.

The posters says "we need a different set of rules for fighting barbarianism." Talk about barbarianism, how about "Shock and Awe." That was the biggest terrorist act to date. We have a UN and international law but the US ignores it. The war and devastation is illegal, barbarianism indeed. We don't need a seperate "Geneva Convention" we need to enforce the one we have now.

Our rights are set up to protect the innocent. Look at all these innocent people swept up in this nonsense. These people tricked by government informants.
At one point the Pentagon Itself said half of the 500 detainees in Guatanamo were innocent and some were only guilty of being in the Taliban and fighting against the US invasion. They said only about 10% were actual al Qaeda. And who knows, they could be lying about that because these prisoners are not being given fair trials.
Some we swept up because someone who didn't like them got paid and said that person ws in al Qaeda. It's ridiculous and scary. Way out of hand already.
The government taking away our rights and legalizing torture. It's a disgrace.

The government, when pressed by civil rights groups, was forced to drop charges of terrorism against Padilla because there was no evidence. We have rights so the government can't just pick you up, throw you in jail and deny you any recourse because they "think or suspect" you may be planning a crime. That's what we fought a revolution to stop. So we have rights. And these so called Patriots of today are the first to do away with them and set up a Police State in the name of security.

This posters as well as many others are only reacting to the lies, misinformation, racism and fear they are fed. It's why I urge people to turn off their TV's and turn to the progressive alternative media, Like Democracy Now, FAIR, Counterpunch, Z Magazine and ZNet, as well as others.

We finally have the tools to communicate with the Internet and we had better use them.
I like what Bill Moyers said once, (something like) "We need to rise to the occasion like our Fore Fathers did, and every generation before us so we can continue to have the rights we enjoy today. "Inalienable Rights."

Oh, this POST is too long already but when they say "war solves nothing" they mean it has not needed wars. One war is always followed by another and we need to look to other solutions to war. It can only be used as a last resort and most of the time it is not the case. I think that in the case of Nazi Germany and Slavery Wars were necessary, but most wars, including WW2 and the Civil War, are empires fighting for profits, power and expansion. Communism is an economic system and the Soviet Union was an empire that did not really have a true communistic system, which includes democracy, but it really collapsed under it's own corruption.

It's the same distortions, lies and racism. I have battled the Zionist's lies for years.

That is one thing we can agree on!
