Its the public unions, like SEIU, that are both supporters of the Democrats and part of the problem, as well as victims sold out by the politcos they supported. Instead of making the promised contributions to the funds, revenue went to vote getting gewgaws. Union leadership ignored the practice, instead of demanding the funds be kept in good fiscal shape. Notice that most union leadership, public and private, have separate pension plans, funded, in part, by members.
