Reply to "Jesse Jackson declares war on "N" word..."

One thing that's curious to me, as it is to others Black & White, is why some Negro rappers & comedians (Dave Chappel, Richard Pryor, et al) can use a degrading term such as "n***a" (and worse) and other such obscene nonsense in their personal speech (one to another), and/or in their performances and think that it's okay, while it's not okay for anyone else to use such perjoratives.

Either it's all okay or it's not.

If one can use it, while the other can't, it shows hypocrisy.

Similarly, the use of the word "ho," when referring to women is equally disrespectful.

Given even broad leway on basis of the First Amendment, it's certain that neither are terms which ought be used in polite company.

Has our society and culture degenerated to the point of gross obscenity, so that the crass, the vulgar, and the coarse are now commonplace or even socially acceptable?

If so (and it quite apparently seems to be the case), why the ruckus over the use of the word?

Or, are we merely attempting to fool ourselves?
