We were good enough to spend our few pennies that we made (oh and thank God that you all let us clean your houses and drive you to town, etc...)with your establishments, but we weren't good enough to use the same restroom or sit next to you for fear that some of our black skin would rub off. Oh and please not let us forget that so many blacks were beaten and hung because they looked at your precious daughters. So I'm not talking about 140 years ago, like I said, let's go back 50 years, and I'm pretty sure some of you were around then. You can't say it was during my great-great grandma or grandpa's time. It was during you or your parent's time. So please forgive me if I offend you by being black and thinking that I am owed something by society because my parents didn't have the same advantages as you and yours. Please forgive me for not being able to attend certain schools because of the color of my skin. Forgive me for thinking that we are all created equal.

Why do you need to go back at all? Why not live in the here and now.

And why in the world would you think the color of your skin offends me? Are you speaking to someone else on here or what?

Also, you are not your parents or your grandparents or your great-grandparents. What is owed to them is not owed to you. And, by the way, the color of my skin (white) kept me from getting grants to go to college, but my two black roommates got a free ride. My Mom was a single mom w/2 kids in college and our clothes came from the dig store. Their parents were married, drove Lincolns and owned name brand clothing. This was in 1986. So, you tell me who had the advantages and who did not?

You know what, if you want to hang "victim" over your head, that's completely up to you. But I do not see you that way. I see you as an equal.
