Today, Joe Biden called on @realDonaldTrump to enact the Defense Protection Act & appoint a supply commander to combat coronavirus.
Trump has already done that.
On March 18, POTUS invoked the DPA.
Rear Adm. Polowczyk has been in charge of supplies.
Biden's not rapid.
Unfortunately, the remarks made zero sense, as usual …
First, the president already enacted the Defense Production Act last month and has applied it to several companies, including General Motors and 3M.
Second, the president already established a so-called “supply commander” last month.
“On the subject of supplies and our meeting today at FEMA, we received a report of the new Supply Chain Stabilization Task Force,” he announced at a March 24th coronavirus briefing.
“Rear Admiral John Polowczyk is leading that up at FEMA, and the task force is working to identify medical supplies that exist in the marketplace today, to evaluate the National Stockpile, and also working with industries around the country to produce even more of the critical medical supplies.”
Third, the DPA isn’t designed “for banks.”
“Inspired by similar laws passed during World War II, the DPA granted broad authority to the executive branch to intervene in private industry by demanding that manufacturers give priority to defense production,” Fortune magazine notes.
“In addition to national defense, it can be used for products related to critical infrastructure, homeland security, stockpiling, and space.”
Banks don’t manufacture products.
Fourth, small business loans are already being provided courtesy of the CARE Act that the president signed into law in late March. The process began Friday, though it has been plagued by a few typical roadblocks — but nothing major.
Fifth, testing has already been ramped up.
“We’re now conducting well over 100,000 coronavirus tests per day. It’s over a thou- — a hundred thousand tests a day –and these are accurate tests and they’re moving rapidly — which is more than any other country in the world, both in terms of the raw number and also on a per capita basis. The most,” the president claimed last week.
While the per capita claim has been disputed, it’s an indisputable fact that the nation’s testing capabilities have risen dramatically in the past two weeks.
Sixth, Biden’s remark about the president’s travel ban was nonsensical. He literally said that 45 other nations “had already moved to keep — block China’s personnel from being able to come to the United States” before the president did.
How and why would other nations block Chinese personnel from coming to the United States? The remark makes no sense.
And assuming he’d perhaps meant that 45 other nations had instituted blocks on travel from China before Trump took action, that’s just false. The president instituted the ban in late January, days before most of the globe began following suit.
As of early February, bans had been instituted in only a handful (certainly less than 45) of countries, including the United States.q
Biden’s remarks, when viewed in totality, give the appearance of a man who doesn’t have a clue — or, at the very least, is significantly behind on the news.
But the remarks outlined above weren’t even the only bizarre ones he made.
Joe Biden forgot the name of the coronavirus.
He previously confused the coronavirus with SARS, called the H1N1 virus "N1H1," and forgot the name of "what happened in Africa" (Ebola).
He's not up for the job, folks.

The entire interview was chockablock with incoherence and fake news — and comes amid an outcry from left-wing activists for Biden to be replaced on the 2020 ticket with current Democrat hero New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
It also comes amid allegations of sexual assault that have been completely buried and ignored by the mainstream press.
