In the Congo and other central African nations, the shops of Indians were seized and given to friends of those in power. The new shopkeepers were temporarily well off. However, they knew nothing of running a store, including ordering new inventory. Soon, scarcity of goods appeared. The former shopkeepers were to the UK and USA.
