You are right that this does put us into a sort of grey area (no pun intended). However, I believe we all can agree that to err on the side of life -- is always better than mistakenly taking a life when it could be productive to allow that person to live.

Err on the side of life? I don't think so since she admitted to and bragged about the killings.  To me it's more "productive" to show others what being a cold blooded killer can bring them. IF that saves one murder victim it's worth it.
