It ended some time in the late 90's when they switched formats. That's what I listened to all the time when I was in jr. high and high school. I remember getting aggravated because during a good song the local translator would break in with a local spot.

I don't know who ran the local translator, but it was a great idea and a great service to those of us who aren't fans of country.

KDF went country around '97 or '98 I believe. Since there is no shortage of country stations in the Shoals, the translator switched to the Birmingham rock station. I don't know if it's still up and running, but it was a huge benefit while it lasted.
