Reply to "Minnesota cafe shows customers the cost of minimum wage hike, Internet gets mad"

Here's the problem with this article.  Restaurants are a special case when it comes to minimum wage law.  The restaurant owner doesn't have to pay the full minimum wage - only a much smaller wage, plus the difference between what the servers makes in tips and the full minimum wage IF the servers' tips don't bring them to minimum wage. 

 

If he has a decent restaurant, and his patrons are decent tippers, and his servers are any good - he is pocketing the surcharge.
