Until this morning's paper I didn't know that Oh! Bryans in Tuscumbia had closed in October. Oh! Bryans was one of my favorite local destinations for steak and although I hadn't eaten there recently it was one of the Shoals restaurants I thought served great tasting steak and I also thought they did a fairly good business. I guess I didn't know that much about it though or their business must have declined quite a bit recently.
The last I had heard, with regards to them in the media outlets, was that they were on the list of best steakhouses in Alabama or at least in the competition for being named as among the best. I know they didn't win but they were one of the semi-finalist. I'm glad though to hear that they are not going to remain closed and that the original owners are going to take over the place and actually improve some parts of the business. I hope the changes that they plan will help to make the place viable again and
I also miss "Big Mike's" or Chisholm Rd Steak House the way they served the hushpuppies to the table before you ordered and would bring out the steaks on a rolling cart allowing you to choose just the cut & size that you wanted then they would cook it on the grill to your specification. Now, at least to my knowledge, there is not a place that allows you to have your steak specifically cut for you like that. There may be one but I don't know where it is so hopefully if there is someone may mention it.
