There are ways to protect your mom. You can go to her doctor and if he will declare her incompetent to make decisions concerning her money and welfare then there could be charges or at least get her money back. I work in assisted living and have seen things like this. One resident was about to loose all his land for a song until family stepped in and got him to a doctor and judge. Good luck.
