So exactly how does one go about getting this discernment without having discernment ? The Holy Spirit (God the Holy Spirit) is a Gift of God the Father upon salvation (acceptance of Jesus Christ sacrifice for each of us. We are to believe and accept Christ as His sacrifice is/was the atonement for our sins. There is Water baptism to symbolize that we have been saved and identify us with Christ Jesus and as a testimony of our new life in Christ but Baptism of the Holy Spirit comes from God at the moment of our Salvation. That point comes when God the Holy Spirit opens your spiritual eyes revealing your spiritual need for salvation.
