If you were in business and your competitors were selling lots and lots ofIce Cream, would you want to sell Ice Cream so you could keep your customers coming into your establishment?
If you are in the food business,history shows alcoholic beverages improve the bottom line by a large percentage...The purpose of being in business is to make money...hopefully, you can make lots of it...
That is simply, what the Sheffield Councilmen are allowing the citizens to vote on...whether to allow their food establishments to improve their bottom line or not..
Some individuals can't get past the reliqious reasons and will not support it...I believe most of the citizens, if given the chance...will no longer allow their Sheffield merchants to operate at an disadvantage any longer with their Florence Food Competitors...I predict, that if it passes in Sheffield, you will see the food establishments in Muscle Shoals and Tuscumbia go to their City Council and ask for the same consideration...as they do not want to be left out in the cold...
The Colbert County citizens from a business stand point made a real bad decision during that Sunday sales referendum...and shot their selves in the foot, when it came to getting large chain restaurants on their side of the river...Don't believe me!...Simply count the number of chains that have gone in during the past year in Florence vs Colbert side...and you will have your answer..
