Went after a job once with a well known national company, and was told by someone already with the company that I was likely the most qualified applicant. HOWEVER, I was also told that if a female or minority candidate applied that was even remotely qualified that I had no chance. Sure enough, they hired a female minority that was absolutely clueless, and a disaster in the field.
