It had to be all over the news that these two men were running from the police. Unless these people live under a rock they had to know an officer was killed and his murderers could be in the area and people should be aware of, and careful about anyone approaching them. I still say it's fishy and could turn out to be someone they knew and knew would give them aid. Then, knowing the search was on top of them, and most likely they'd find them in their shed, they gave them up and used the excuse they didn't know they were giving criminals aid.

There are plenty of people living "under rocks", Best. Just because something is "all over the news" does not mean that everyone in a given area is familiar with it. But for someone like YOU, who is so strongly inclined to believe the worst about folks, that probably doesn't matter.
