I think it's safe to assume that the woman you spoke with is either off her rocker or she was kidding.

I have known folks of all denominations throughout my life and have never been told "if you don't belong to my denomination, you are going to hell" by anyone of any denomination, including Church of Christ. I've heard stories, mainly because they are unusual. Perhaps in preceding generations this was a problem...not so much anymore. I'm 42, btw.

IMO, the original church as laid out in the Bible discouraged separation. Denominations are man-made. When we get to Heaven, if God asks us to which denomination we belong, I'll eat my hat.
