well naw Kenny, unions are not in the business to be competitive with sweat-shop minimum wages.

Their business is to provide skills so the businesses produce the quality product or service. Everything else falls in place with a  quality product or service including profit and happiness for all.

I've worked in a union and know that's not completely true.  I've seen journeymen pipefitters who could not bend tubing and wrapped the compression side threads of compression fittings with teflon tape on many, many jobs.  I've seen similar issues with other crafts as well, and it seems widespread.  To increase membership and dues, many unions are organizing people off the street and allowing them to bypass the training, which makes them no different in skill than anybody else.  The problem with unions is you can't get rid of the bad, and there's plenty of bad.  I've seen it time and time again, so you can't BS me on this.
