It just goes to show how little control humans have over our world from what many think that they have. Same with "so-called" "man-made" global warming as Al Gore has increasingly become wealthier over. That has been a cash cow for him and yet there is no doubt about the climate changing and it always will change but to assign the blame to mankind is a stretch. There are many things about our own planet that science doesn't know yet the one dogmatic thing many scientists are 100% sure of is that there is not, nor cannot be G_d controlling things. I'm continually amazed at how certain people are so sure how "everything" began with one "Big Bang" and how they can unequivocally explain how life became and got here, yet none of their answers or equations involves G_d or a deity.
The truth is that mankind doesn't really know much about our own planet much less about the Universe around us or life itself. There are many questions that science has answered and mankind surely understands quite a bit more today than they did years ago. We are sending probes out into space and into the unknown and are getting back data from other planets but still, there is so much that we don't know nor understand about our own. We can only go on what we are taught and what others have discovered and shared with us but, as for myself, I will continue to rely upon and have faith that G_d is in control and I'm fairly certain that there is nothing I can do, in and of myself, to alter or change the course of things like climate change or the magnetic poles reversing or a host of other things.
I will admit that these things, and the study of them, are interesting and that there are reasons for continuing to study them and advance mankind's knowledge of our surroundings. It still is amusing to me though there are so many that are so concerned about things that they have absolutely no control over while neglecting some of the very things they have the most control over.
