I realize most of ya'll are posting trying to bring Brent* back, but I'm one those that lurk and read and occasionally post -- I'll be honest that for the past week or so I've stopped reading because I am tired of the bickering back and forth about issues that are not going to be resolved because you are "set" in your opinion and your ways and no amount of arguing will change the other's mind.
Homosexual relationships -- do I agree with them? No -- DO I RESPECT YOUR RIGHT TO HAVE ONE? yes. Civil Unions? I think it should be between a man and a woman only, but if you want to marry someone of the opposite sex - that is your choice. Illegal immigrants? Do I thinkt he government has handled it correctly? No -- but it is not Bush's fault at this point he inherited the problem from previous Presidents that never took a stand on the issue. Do I think they should be deported? If they have not become legal citizens the right way? Yes I think they should go back HOME. Do I agree with the war in Iraq? That is not for me to decide that is for the PResident--our Commander In Chief--whether we like him or not to decide. It's kind of like when you were a kid and you wanted to stay the night at a friends house -- what you wanted was the issue, but your parents made the final decision whether you liked it or not. Do I support our troops that are serving MY COUNTRY -- ABSOLUTELY WITHOUT A DOUBT NEVER QUESTION YES.
Do I think that we all need to grow up and realize that we can voice our opinions and the world doesn't have to agree with them? YES.
This has gotten ridiculus and I for one have a life that doesn't revolve around arguing with everybody under the sun about something I can't fix -- if you don't like the way the country is run -- do whta the Constitution gives you the right to do -- VOTE FOR YOUR CANDIDATE -- if he wins great -- if he loses DON'T BLAME THE WINNER FOR WINNING! A sore loser is what a lot of you appear to be -- these days we are not voting for the Best candidate -- we are voting for the LESSER OF TWO EVILS to put in the office. If you think you can do a better job -- raise the money, campaign and get off your bum and do something about it! If not, state your opinion but respect others for their opinion. Yes you have a First Amendment right to free speech, but remember I have that right as well. Your rights end where mine begin -- just because you shout louder or post more or post an uglier message doesn't change that fact.
We are fighting a war in Iraq regardless of whether we want to be or not or who started it -- We need to stop fighting amongst ourselves and find a solution to the important issues.
I'll keep lurking -- I hope one day it becomes fun again to read and voice my opinion ...
