Six or Eight Days? by Eric Lyons, M.Min. After Jesus prophesied during His earthly ministry that some would live to see the establishment of God’s kingdom, the first two books of the New Testament indicate six days expired before Peter, James, and John were led up on a high mountain to witness the transfiguration of Jesus (Matthew 16:28-17:2; Mark 9:1-2). The substance of this is humerous, and quite worth repeating. But, Sand Mountain includes parts of Jackson County, DeKalb County, Marshall County, Etowah County and Blount County Alabama as well as parts of Dade County Georgia. It's a region, not a town. I can find no reference to a church by that name in any of those counties, except when attached to this particular anecdote. You can find references to this same blurb attributing the church as existing in Tennessee, Texas and Arkansas.

My step son had an even shorter version. I once told him to write the Ten Commandments 10 times as a punishment for lying. In a very short time he handed me 1 piece of paper with; "Don't have another God, Don't cheat, Don't kill, Don't lie" etc. written 10 times. It sure was hard to stay mad at that kid.

Re: Does god speak to you?

Bill Gray ·
Hi Deep, YES, ABSOLUTELY! God speaks to those in His family every day -- and every time we read His Written Word, the Bible. The Bible is His Love Song to all believers. Would He ask such a thing of us? NO! Why did He ask this of Abraham? It was a test of the Old Testament faith; one in which He never intended to take the life of Isaac. It was also a type of the sacrifice of Christ -- where God DID take the life of His Only Son, Jesus Christ. And, He did this to offer YOU the "free gift" of...

This is another one of those things that always makes me cringe. If this were true...and god had sacrificed his son for sins that he already had the power to just forgive anyway, what does that say about god? Do I want to worship a deity that would do such a thing? No. Makes no sense whatsoever. People love god more than they love their own children, and he didn't even love his own child enough to save him. Or was it himself? God is jesus, jesus is god....right? How do you respect or love...
