On a scale of one to five, rate this statement.
"Employers should be required to confirm the residency status of all applicants for employment."

5 equals strong agreement, 1 equals strong opposition.

Recently Arizona's Legislature passed a law, and the Governor signed it, requiring employers to use the Federal e verify system when hiring new workers. The law has stringent penalties for knowingly hiring undocumented workers, and requires the use of e verify to confirm the legality of applicants for work.

THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY HAS FILED SUIT TO OVER TURN THE LAW. Not Illegal Aliens, Not labor organizations, Not working men and women, EMPLOYERS, ACTING THROUGH AN ASSOCIATION HAVE FILED SUIT CHALLENGING THE CONSTITUTIONALITY OF THE LAW.

It is the REPUBLICANS, for the most part, who are resisting this effort to confirm documents presented by applicants for work.

It is a Business OWNERS organization that has not only filed the suit, but when their claim was dismissed last week, in court on legal grounds, ARE REFILING THE SUIT. It appears they are DESPERATE to prevent them from being REQUIRED, to hire only workers who are legally permitted to hold jobs in this country.
