Is it just me or is there a lot of you guys with kitty Avatars?? I've seen a dancing kitty, a tiger, and a couple of others. I am so glad I am not the only one who loves her kitty. Do all of you have cats or just like them??
Mine is black with a white tummy, white feet, & white wiskers, and no his name isn't "Socks". His name is "Loki". Big Grin
I was just wondering! Smiler

I have two babies and Love each one equal, I just wish I could get my avatar pic bigger so you could see my Tom, he is my newest, Hubby found him at a construction site, he was starving and seriously thin but he is well loved now. I have Emilee who is 3 and as big as Garfield. It took Emilee about 2 days to even let Tom come out of my room to the rest of the house, now they are play fighting all night long, they lay in wait for each other. Tom is still very shy around us humans tho
I love felines, domestic and wild. I think they are beautiful animals...graceful, quick, intelligent & deadly. I love watching them with the exception of 'right after' they've caught their prey (ew) or while they torture the poor thing. Hey, nobody's perfect, right? Also, there is nothing more adorable than babies of all species, which would of course include kittens. Smiler

Unfortunately, I don't have any kitties of my own. Frowner We go out of town often (business & to see family). Unless I could have two kitties, I just don't feel right about leaving her/him alone that often. The husband says that is really two too many but certainly one too many (not willing to put up with two - he's not a cat person). So, for now, it's a no go.

I was just lucky that my husband wasn't allregic to cats. My dad used to have one so I knew I wasn't and when me and my hubby found Loki (he was a stray kitten) I immediately took him in. Luckly he wasn't allergic and my baby will be 3 in august! However, My best friend is really bad allergic to cats. Watery eyes, sneezing all that. She tells me constantly I chose my cat over her cause she hardly can ever come over to our house! LoL Smiler
I have five. Their pictures are at the other forum under photos. My alpha male is Taz, then Meke(male), Aries (female, Meke's brother), Washu ( Siamese mix female), and Bijou (Black/white female). We call them the furry children.
Cat haters beware, cats will rule the earth after we are gone! The history channel gave them dominance in only 150 years after people. MEOW!!!!!

Joy, getting them in twos is always better. I have always done that and they give each other company and a play mate. You will have to convince hubby. Big Grin
Ooooo, Cats Rule! I love our three kitties. We have Turbo (a tuxedo cat, 18 lbs and approx 6 yrs old), Romeo (a gray tabby, 16 lbs and approx 5 yrs old), and Hazel(a calico, maybe 4 lbs soaking wet, and about 4 months old). We lost little Precious two years ago. She had to be put to sleep due to illness and we still miss her. All of our babies are foundlings and they do keep each other company when we aren't home. They don't necessarily get along with our two dogs but they have developed their own system for keeping the peace.

We don't have a yard so our dogs go to a cage free daycare each day to play with their other doggie friends while we are at work. During that time, the cats have the run of the entire house, upstairs and down. When we come home in the evening with the dogs, the cats retreat upstairs and the dogs remain downstairs with us. The stairs are like the DMZ. Big Grin When we head upstairs for the night, the dogs come with us and go to their assigned doggie beds and the cats get to sleep with us on our bed if they want or they can go downstairs and play night games.

And, beternU (or any other trolls out there) if you don't like cats, then why would you even bother to come into this forum in the first place since it's very title should give you a freaking clue as to the content???? We all know why...you are a pitiful excuse for a human being and you enjoy trying to spread your sickness and disease whenever and where-ever possible. CAT LOVERS UNITE...DON'T FEED THE TROLLS!!!
i retired my kitty avatar when a newcomer here picked it up..i am a cat rescuer, and had 5 for many years..my 20 year old siamese died in my arms on Christmas Day, so now it's just the 4 furballs...i also have a welsh corgi dog that i rescued last spring, precious boy..they are part of my family, my furry little babies..and i like animals better than i like most people.. Cool
I have two wonderful "daughter's"! I adopted Boom & Box from the animal shelter in 2004 and I couldn't have made a better decision. Boom is black with golden eyes, and Box is gray with green eyes. They are sisters, and they are my little ones. Boom is my alarm clock, wakes me up every morning at 4 am, wheather I have to get up or not. Box is my oldest son's clock, you can to her to go wake up bubba and she has himm up in 2 minutes! I hope they are a part of our lives for a long time!

My little man was using the liter box the first night we brought him home. He was 6 months old but he was a stray and had never had to use one. He learned quickly. The easiest way to train a cat (the vet told me) is to get a spray bottle (like 1 dollar at walmart) and fill it with water and when he or she is doing something naughty like being on the counter or dining room table, spray them and keep doing it until they learn. Its like using a rolled up newspaper on a naughty puppy. Cats dont like to get wet.

I want another cat but the one I have just wont have it. We actually took in a stray kitten once. She was maybe 8-9 weeks old. She was so loveable. But Loki wouldnt have it. They fought and hissed and clawed at each other. We had to take her to the shelter the next morning. I couldnt bear the thought of letting her free again for her to get hit by a car or eaten (lived on the mountain) by something. I thought if she were at a shelter, she would have a chance at being adopted.
TootsieRoll, Loki's behavior is normal and is usually what happens initially when you introduce a new cat to one already in residence. It takes about a week in most cases for them to accept the newcomer. What you can do if you would like to try again is keep the newcomer closed away in a bedroom (with food, water and sandbox) while you are away from home and then allow both cats to come together while you are at home so you can mediate any kitty fights. We've never gotten more than one cat at a time and they all get along just fine now. I encourage you to try again. Loki would probably benefit in spite of himself.
