I just finished David Baldacci's book "First Family"...very good mystery/thriller, intersecting story lines.

You get a behind the scenes look at the relationship among the First Family (President & Family), Secret Service and FBI. Portions of the book take place in Alabama on an old slave plantation...you then the then and now pictures.

I want to say more about the book, but I'm afraid I'll give something away...lol...lots of interesting historical info woven throughout. Smiler

Hi Joy,

Right now, I am in the middle of rereading William Safire's book "Freedom - A Novel Of Abraham Lincoln And The Civil War." Even though it is a 1500 page book, I am enjoying it even more the second time -- and finding nuggets I missed in the first reading.

Sometimes a book will begin slow, almost boring, and then spring to life and be really exciting. Such a book is Jimmy Carter's (yep, same Jimmy Carter who lived in the White House) book "The Hornet's Nest" -- a historical novel about the Revolutionary War. Normally, we think of the Northeast (Virginia to Massachusetts) when we consider the Revolutionary War. But, this book is about the effects of that war on the Southeastern states. Very interesting -- and a great way to learn more about the Revolutionary War..

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill
I'm reading "Velvet Elvis" by Rob Bell. It is totally something I would normally not read, as it is a study of the Bible and how people translate the Bible in their own words. I never read anything like that, and only started reading it because it was a free book on my Kindle. However, I'm pleasantly surprised and I'm enjoying it way more than I thought I would. I can tell that it's not for everyone, though.

Good?

I think it is very good. I was an econ major so I really enjoy that kinda stuff.

It looks like they took a subject that is difficult for some of us to really get into and made it fun to understand.
The last new book i read was Bite Me: A Love Story by Christoper Moore, the sequal to You Suck: A Love Story[/], the sequal to [I] Bloodsucking Fiends.

Christopher Moore is one of the best things to ever happen to me. His books are very funny, page by page, and before the end you realize the man is a total genius.

right now i'm re-reading Terry Prachett's Jingo
