The Death Of John Kennedy
Why Nixon resigned instead of facing impeachment.
Nixon resigned over an obstruction of justice charge (with some of the legal groundwork prepared by a young Hillary Rodham). Nixon resigned gracefully, the media declared the incident over and Gerald Ford declared that it was time to "put the whole affair behind us and move forward". This was done because the last thing anyone wanted in Washington D.C. was an impeachment trial. Even Nixon's worst enemies dared not allow it. The reasoning was simple. Sooner or later, someone would ask the following question.
"Why, when Nixon's re-election was a study in foregone conclusions, was it necessary to break into the DNC headquarters at the Watergate?"

The answer to that question, never asked by politician, never asked by a servile media, was THE dark secret that could not be revealed; the secret that would have brought down the entire government!

Years later, it did come out what had been the motive for the break-in. It was connected to what Nixon called "Hanky Panky" on the White House tapes.

The DNC had gotten copies of the photographs taken of the three tramps in Dealey Plaza, and identified two of them as long time Nixon henchmen E. Howard Hunt and Frank Sturgis. This put the DNC in a position to at least blackmail the President, if not expose him outright. This is why E. Howard Hunt lead the break-in; it was his own ass he was trying to save.

The photos resurfaced as part of a news story, and E. Howard Hunt sued the publisher, Liberty Lobby. He lost. Attorney Mark Lane provided witnesses that placed E. Howard Hunt in Dealey Plaza at the time that John F. Kennedy was killed.

The photos.

I am familiar with the photo's and Mark Lane's work. He represented Hunt in a case but Lane has done a good deal of work exposing the failure and white wash of the Warren Commission.

Actually the photos had been published in a few of the then alternative magazines and publications in the early 70's, before the impeachment.
According to what I have read, which I tend to believe, is that Nixon knew the truth about the assassination and was trying to use it to protect himself from against any kind of impeachment.
Hunt was CIA and I have read that it was the CIA, carrying out a general consensus, that Nixon had to go.
They set him up with the break in. I think one of the Cuban burglars had an address book or something like that which is very "unprofessional" and made direct links to the White House. They would never carry any kind of material like that on any covert action. Like from the V show "Mission Impossible." They would have nothing on them linking them to any one, especially Nixon.

The media waited until he was re-elected because they did not want Mc Govern to win but after the election they began to feed Bob Woodward, another journalist with ties to the intelligence community, bits and pieces that would unravel Nixon. There was no one person that was "Deep Throat." its all bogus. I may have sent you an article or two showing how the guy who came out to claim he was Deep Throat" couldn't have been.
The CIA had been bugging Nixon all along and there was no "one person." called "Deep Throat."

Lane has actually shown how Hunt was involved in the assassination. He was CIA and the whole Watergate thing was a set up to bring Nixon down. There are various theories on why the "establishment " was unhappy with Nixon but I will leave that for another time. I am at work and have to rush.
One reason was ending the Vietnam War which had to be ended, another was the various treaties with Russia banning nukes in space and peace with China, while others complained he was a loud mouth drunk. Take your pick, either ay they wanted him out.
Kennedy they tried to discredit but couldn't so they shot him. Nixon they impeached and Carter they discredited and destabilized.

The photos, as far as I know, are real but I think they were published in various alternative publications after the break in and the 72 election but before impeachment, but I may be confused. It was a long time ago.

In the theories about Watergate being a set up to remove Nixon I have read the "establishment" didn't like Nixon cause they thought he was incompetent and too liberal but he really wasn't so liberal. He was being pushed to the left by the people and various peace groups. He was a liar and a murderer who continued the Vietnam War and condoned and authorized CIA and military murder.

I read that he tried to stop the impeachment movement by threatening to release info on the JFK murder but backed down. Even the guy who revealed the actual existence of secret tapes of White House conversations, which were the real smoking gun to Nixon's downfall, Butterfield I believe his name was, or something close to that, turned out to be either a suspected "CIA" agent or a known agent as revealed in John Dean's book who pointed out everyone went to jail but him

I am strongly opposed to increasing troop levels in Iraq, and I am encouraged that even some far-right Repubs in the Senate such as Trent Lott have spoken out against sending more troops. My hope is that this issue will be the straw that broke the camel's back and get enough sane Repubs to turn against Bush to either get the ball rolling toward impeachment of Bush and Cheney or force their resignations as was done with Agnew/Nixon (remember Agnew went down first!). Even the most conservative Repubs who are paying attention have to recognize that Bush is either drunk/drugged out of his mind, mentally ill and delusional, or both. As for Cheney, I think he is pure evil. Six months before Agnew resigned and the Nixon administration started to crumble with all the revelations of Watergate, nobody thought a sitting president could be removed from office. No president or VP had ever resigned before. Remember that Nixon was elected by a landslide in '72, carrying 49 of 50 states, the biggest landslide ever in a presidential election. Bush lost the popular vote both times and barely squeaked by in the electoral college. My hope is that Bush will try to commit more troops without the support of Congress, and that this will lead to the collapse of whatever Republican support he has, and that this in turn will lead either to resignation or impeachment for Bush and Cheney. My hope is that neither will resign and that the crimes of both will be fully exposed in their impeachment hearings. (While I think Gerald Ford was a good, decent man--one of the best to ever occupy the White House as far as just being a good person, and while I think he did it for honorable reasons, I do not think he should have pardoned Nixon. Nixon should have been tried for his crimes.)
