"If there is any political viewpoint in this world which is free from slavish adherence to abstraction, it is American conservatism. ... Our task now is not to sell a philosophy, but to make the majority of Americans, who already share that philosophy, see that modern conservatism offers them a political home. We are not a cult, we are members of a majority. Let's act and talk like it. The job is ours and the job must be done. If not by us, who? If not now, when? Our party must be the party of the individual. It must not sell out the individual to cater to the group." Ronald Reagan

I know most of you didn't like Reagan. But when I would listen to him speak, it felt like you were part of what he said. Like he was speaking to you. I haven't heard a President since then who could do that. It probably was hogwash but it sure sounded good. All the hogwash we hear now doesn't take long to figure out it's a lie from the start.

I was on an airplane and the voice came on the intercom "good morning ladies and gentlemen. We are passing through 10,000 ft on our way to our cruising altitude of 35,000 ft.
The president has just fired all the air traffic controllers, but when we arrive in the Atlanta area, we don't anticipate any problems landing"

May not be exact quote, but is very very close. You don't forget those.
