The article misses a major point. The firing squad method of capital punishment is rooted in Mormon doctrine, which teaches--astonishingly--that there are sins so heinous that they can not be forgiven without the offender's blood being shed. The effect of this particular heresy is to assert that the blood of Jesus Christ is insufficient to take away certain particularly egregious sins, which is, of course, at variance with scripture, big time. That, however, should not surprise anyone familiar with Mormonism.
I'm with homesickgirl, it's a shame we fed this man for 25 years. I have no problem with them using a cheap bullet to take care of this killer.

I could be wrong but I thought four fired blanks and only one fired a live round and no one knew who shot the real round.
personally...
i think once one is sentanced to death, the sentance should be carried out with 48 hours.
i think we need to build a good old fashioned gallows on the lawn of every county court house in the state.
the idea of automatic appeal with a death sentance is a bit silly. of COURSE they are gonna appeal, thye don't wanna die. neither did the person they killed. they don't get an appeal, why should their killer?
i think the idea od 'not guilty by reason of insanity' is crazy. ( pun intended)
you'd have to be crazy to do some of this stuff. that only means to me that they really don't get the concept of right and wrong, good and bad, so we need to put them down faster instead of letting them go. if they don't understand that stabbing someone to death with a spork is wrong, kill em now before they find themselves in line at KFC with my wife and kids.

I strongly support capital punishment and think capital offenses should be expanded to cover sex offenders, drug dealers, and maybe a few other crimes. At the same time I agree with the automatic appeal and the rest of the appeals process because I would always want to make sure the right guy is on the end of the noose. This of course could always be done a lot faster, I would think the process could be streamlined and should never take more than a year.

well.. i guess i could deal with a year
it's better than the 20 years we have now, and a little safer than my idea of 48 hours to make sure it's the right guy...
ok.. 12 months to the day of sentanceing, then we string em up... i'd accept that..
