Hi to my Forum Friends,

Today, I would like to give a really big "ATTA GIRL!" to TimesDaily City Editor, Sherhonda Allen, for having the Christian faith and courage to speak about her Christian faith in print. I know that many of our non-believing Friends will start throwing rocks, saying, "How dare she speak FOR God when she is doing her job for a newspaper! Isn't she supposed to be objective, taking neither one side or the other?"

That would be analogous to a person who does not like the color "red" telling her that, because he/she does not like that bright color; she should not wear red while at work. After all, it offends this persons sense of sight; therefore it should be banned in all work places. So, Sherhonda, you should always wear on white, grey, or black -- no bright colors, no pastels -- you MUST be objective so that you do not offend those dear folks.

My Friends, it does not work that way. A Christian believer is "clothed" in the righteousness of Jesus Christ; it is not something we can put on and take off -- as the public desires. It is our faith; and it is not disposable to fit public opinion.

It would be okay if she had written an article which supported your "lack of faith in God" -- but, because it supports her strong "faith in God" -- it offends you. Get a life! Preferably a Christian life.

SINCE WE ARE JUSTIFIED BY FAITH

RE: http://www.timesdaily.com/arti...404/ARTICLES/4045005

It's all about faith.

I'm a Christian, so that means I have unquestioning belief that Jesus Christ is the son of God, that he died to atone for our sins and that he rose from his grave after his physical death, which is called the resurrection.

I accept the fact that my belief is too much for many people to accept. Every excuse is cited for not believing, including the popular: There's no proof.

But faith is not about always having proof. If it were, it wouldn't be called faith.

I also accept that many people I honestly like do not believe as I do - some don't believe in God at all. Others express ambivalence - not committing to following any religion, though they do acknowledge God. It doesn't stop me from liking them and caring about them. Some nights I've lain in bed worrying about them, though God's word says we who believe in him are not to worry - an edict that's extremely difficult for me, a born worrier.

Caring about others who don't believe as I believe doesn't change how I practice my faith, nor does it water down my faith. When someone uses the name of Jesus Christ as an exclamation, or a curse, it still offends me no matter how many times I hear it on television or out of the mouths of people I like.

I don't just think about my faith when I'm offended or on a day like today, Easter, which is one of the most important observances in the Christian faith. It's with me all the time, on weak faith days and strong ones.

Because it's Easter, there have been published reports, debates and pontificating about Christianity going on all week. The issue of belief in God sets people off in good ways and bad ways just as it did back in the days before Jesus ever walked the earth.

I've come to realize that we, Christians and non, are as stiff-necked as the Israelites of Exodus who had physical proof that God was among them and it still was not enough to convince many of them to have an unwavering faith.

I've been called all kinds of an idiot for believing as I do, but there it is - I'm not going to change because someone decides it's politically incorrect to practice my faith.

Because I work in the media, I'm often privy to many opinions - some even from people who say they are Christian - that would encourage me to water down my belief to make it more palatable, less offensive to other people. I honestly never hear this request directed to anyone but Christians. What kind of Christian faith would I have if I would be content to water it down for anyone or for any reason?

Observing Easter and all it means is important to me. It's good to share it with those I care about - Christians and non-Christians alike.

My thoughts on this: Thank you, Sherhonda, for having the Christian faith and courage to declare your Christian faith.

"ATTA GIRL!"

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

I must say Bill, for a person of faith, you need to put more of that faith toward your fellow man. Not all non believers will react as you think.

Personally as a non believing person I'm glad to see a person express their opinions about their beliefs in print, voice, or whatever. The reason is very simple. It shows that the principles this country was founded upon still holds true. It's nice to see it happen regardless if I agree or disagree with the person. When I see it happen, it makes me proud to be an American. I look at that person, and I think how lucky we are to live in a nation that we can share our opinions with each other.

While I may not agree with your beliefs Bill, I'm even happy to see you post your thoughts, prayers, and stories of your faith. I would never even think of lifting a stone at you my friend. Regardless which one of us is right or wrong, I'm glad we both have the right to post our opinions in this forum and share them with others. I am never for censoring a persons opinions or beliefs regardless what they maybe.

Hi Loki,

That is so true; and like you, I am proud to be an American -- although I will go a wee bit further and say, I am proud to be a Christian American.

And, like you, I am grateful to that we live in a nation where we are free to express our beliefs. But, again, I will go a wee bit further and say that I praise God for this blessing.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Bill, You do just that with virtually every post, sir.

Hi Sofa,

Face it, my Friend, anyone expressing Christian views, especially Conservative Christian views -- is an affront to you. That is your problem, my Friend. And, I pray that one day you resolve it.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

WHAAAAAAAAAAAT???? I disagree....
SK doesn't have a problem. You are very wrong to say that anyone with Christian views is an affront.
SK and I have agreed on lots of stuff- and disagreed on others. But we're both Christian, and I don't know about SK but I KNOW I am quite conservative.
Just because people don't agree with your brand of religion does not make them any less Christian than you.
By the way, I checked out the newsletter you have quoted and referenced, "The Berean Call", and I have to say, I was quite shocked at the content. Mr. Gray, do you endorse this newsletter and it's contents?

Hi VP,

Yes, the Roman Catholic is a liberal church; maybe not politically, but, most certainly in theology. And, where you stand -- does, in your writings, appear to also be liberal.

You throw stones at The Berean Call Newsletter -- but, you say nothing specific -- except that you do not agree with what they write.

I do not take a hard line against the Roman Catholic faith as they sometimes do; but we must remember that Tom McMahon, one of the two principals -- spent most of his life in the Roman Catholic church -- from birth until he was an adult. So, I would say that he does have a good perspective on their teachings.

But, my Friend, if you are going to throw rocks at them -- at least have a target. Don't just shotgun them. Tell us specifically where you disagree with them.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Where do I disagree with them?
1. The Roman Catholic church is a "cult"
2. Psychotherapy is unwarranted, and dangerous
3. Yoga is not just exercise, but promotes worship of unholy spirits??!
4. Psychological counselling has a destructive influence on the evangelical church.
5. Alcoholism is not a disease, but a sin.
6. Catholicism is a "false gospel".
7. Mary had other children besides Jesus.
8. The Avatar Gospel (really???)
9. Good Friday is a myth.

Anyway, I am not 'throwing stones' which implies hostility that is not there.
I am just dumbfounded by some of the newsletters and the books/media endorsed by this website. I found it to be quite disturbing, but also enlightening as to why you have some of the opinions that you do.
They seem to be quite the extremists, and I will not be visiting that website again, and I would encourage my friends to steer clear. Thats all.

Liberal? MOI????
That's a first. It actually made me spit out my tea. Smiler
Sorry, good try but as you like to say, "no cigar".
