I thought it was crazy when pelosi compared this to social security.

I thought it was a perfect comparison. The govenment decided we couldn't handle saving for retirement on our own, so they stole our money in the name of doing it for us. Now, they've decided we can't handle buying insurance on our own, so they will steal more money in the name of doing that for us. Actually, a pretty good accurate analogy.

I'm not real happy about this, but I don't feel so gloom and doom.

In a way I was morbidly hoping it would pass...Now we'll see who is really dedicated to the fight for liberty and self government.

The simple solution is to elect a majority that can overturn this without a presidential signature. That can happen in 2010 if people are serious about electing real small-government candidates.

DREAM ON! You are cushy on this right wing forum and in Alabama. Fortunately, the rest of the country has different ideas. Last count, the majority if lost will only lose by a few seats. That is if plan B of Rush Limbaugh doesn't go into effect and he starts a civil war. I want to see Rush and Beck go up against a couple of Crips

It might not happen, probably won't. It would if all the people who claim to have discovered small government actually vote that way. With nearly 40 states considering nullification, it's a good start.

Very true. The simple solution is to elect a majority that can overturn this without a presidential signature. That can happen in 2010 if people are serious about electing real small-government candidates.

Well, yeah...that too...But I really had in mind THIS

You may very well be right...that's why we need to get more involved with our state governments. The state needs to reclaim their power unconstitutionally usurped from the federal government.

This so-called health care reform is no where near the first over reach of the federal government...but hopefully it'll be what wakes the sheeple up.

Perk,
I enjoy good stimulating conversation and have great respect with those who can articulate ideas with good common sense, even if those ideas I do not agree with.
I regret to say that is impossible with you. People like you on the right are just as much responsible for what is wrong with this country as those you hate on the left.

Crips, like most criminals, are lazy and poor shots. I've reviewed their firefights and they expend an extreme amount of ammo for every target they hit. Lazy, dumb and violent is a poor combination against disciplined fire.

I believe the kluxers wear cotton. There's only about 10,000 of those bottom of the genetic barrel scum left. Blast if I'd wear my good irish Brooks Brothers linen in the woods.

It's worth pointing out that even if Republicans won every single Democratic Senate seat that's up this year and held on to every Republican seat, they'd still only have 59 Senators, which is far short of the 67 they'd need to override a presidential veto. So you can forget about Congress repealing this any time soon even in the event of a Republican landslide unless a significant number of Senate Democrats for some reason decide to reverse their position and vote to repeal the law they just passed.

This reminds me of a conversation I was having with a friend the other day. He was ranting and raving about the health care bill (Obamacare), but had to cut the conversation short. His 18 year old, pregnant daughter had an appointment at DHR to apply for Medicaid and he had to give here a ride.
