The 27 Characteristics of the AntiChrist
Know how to recognize the beast and not be swayed into believing that someone is the AntiChrist who doesn't match the biblical characteristics.

1. He comes from among ten kings in the restored Roman Empire; his authority will have similarities to the ancient Babylonians, Persians, and Greeks [Daniel 7:24; Rev 13:2 / Daniel 7:7]

2. He will subdue three kings [Daniel 7:8, 24]

3. He is different from the other kings [Daniel 7:24]

4. He will rise from obscurity…a “little horn” [Daniel 7:8]

5. He will speak boastfully [Daniel 7:8; Rev 13:5]

6. He will blaspheme God, [Daniel 7:25; 11:36; Rev 13:5] slandering His Name, dwelling place, and departed Christians and Old Testament saints [Rev 13:6]

7. He will oppress the saints and be successful for 3 ½ years [Daniel 7:25; Rev 13:7]

8. He will try to change the calendar, perhaps to define a new era, related to himself [Daniel 7:25]

9. He will try to change the laws, perhaps to gain an advantage for his new kingdom and era
[Dan 7:25]

10. He will not be succeeded by another earthly ruler, but by Christ [Daniel 7:26-27]

11. He will confirm a covenant with “many”, i.e. the Jewish people [Daniel 9:27]
This covenant will likely involve the establishment of a Jewish Temple in Jerusalem
[see Dan 9:27; Matt 24:15]

12. He will put an end to Jewish sacrifice and offerings after 3 ½ years and will set up an abomination to God in the Temple [Daniel 9:27, Matthew 24:15]

13. He will not answer to a higher earthly authority; “He will do as he pleases”[Daniel 11:36]

14. He will show no regard for the religion of his ancestors [Daniel 11:37]

15. He will not believe in any god at all [except for himself] [Daniel 11:37]

16. He will have "no regard for the desire of women": He will either be asexual or homosexual
[Dan 11:37]

17. He will claim to be greater than any god [Daniel 11:37; 2 Thess 2:4]

18. He will claim to be God [2 Thessalonians 2:4]

19. He will only honor a “god” of the military. His whole focus and attention will be on his military. He will conquer lands and distribute them [Daniel 11:39-44]

20. His arrival on the world scene will be accompanied by miracles, signs and wonders [2 Thess 2:9]

21. Either he, or his companion [The False Prophet], will claim to be Christ [Matt 24:21-28]

22. He will claim that Jesus did not come in the flesh, or that Jesus did not rise bodily from the grave
[2 John 7]. He will deny that Jesus is the Messiah [I John 2:22]

23. He will be worshipped by many people [Rev. 13:8]

24. He will hate a nation that initially will have some control over his kingdom, but he will destroy this nation [Rev 17:16-18]

25. He will appear to survive a fatal injury [Rev. 13:3; 17:8]

26. His name will be related to the number six hundred and sixty six—but not necessarily in an obvious fashion [Rev 13:17-18].

27. He will be empowered by the devil himself [Rev. 13:2]

You and other millennialists who gather up scriptures from hither and yon and allege them all to describe "the AntiChrist" typically claim that this varmint you describe in such immaculate detail will be an enormously successful deceiver and will have just about everyone in the palm of his hand. Yet on the other hand, you and others similarly deluded (including the repulsive John Hagee and the sputtering maniac, Rod Parsley and their odious ilk and a host of others caught up in the Darbyite distortions of eschatological events) have placarded the world with minutely-detailed descriptions of this alleged end-time tyrant/deceiver that would be enough for anyone to use to identify him, should he show up to do his Antichrist thing. Isn't there more than a little dissonance there?

You may want to grow your brain a bit and read the Epistle of Barnabas.

And just which of my carefully-words have bedazzled your cramped vocabulary?

"Millennialist" is a well-known term for those who forge from unrelated scriptures a fanciful concept of eschatological events.

"Eschatological" and "eschatology" are terms that anyone on a religion forum ought to know.

Is "varmint" new and strange to you?

Just what allegedly arcane and obscure terms have frustrated you today?

Finally, who gave you the authority to represent the views of everyone on the forum concerning my choices and uses of words? Did you get authorization for that from the Arrogance Society or where?

Someone else (using an airplane icon) is incapable of distinguishing between anger and strongly reasoned dissent. That same someone else must himself be very limited in the disciplines of argumentation, discussion and debate, since that same someone else has resorted here not to anything of substance, but rather to a little inept foray into amateur psychology. Care to come back on and put up some semblance of a rebuttal?

Can someone interpret this for me? I would like to have a logical dialogue but I don't know what the heck he is saying.
These are the only instances of the phrase "the antichrist" or even just the general "antichrist" being used in the entire Bible:

1 John 2:18-19 "Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have arisen; from this we know that it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, in order that it might be shown that they all are not of us."

1 John 2:22-23 "Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also."

1 John 4:2-3 "By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; and this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world."

2 John 1:7 "For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist."

That is it, and that means that all the gibberish spouted and ranted is just that: gibberish. It is gibberish in the sense that all eschatology is usually cloaked in symbolic language, leaving it open for any loud mouth in the world to usurp and claim as definitive. I rather think that normal people of faith see through this racket and have no need of a DVD explaining the nuances of sheep and goats and tares and why Daniel is germane to anything post-Roman at all, much less the Church, when it obviously addresses the glory of Babylon being destroyed by the "Redeemer," Koresh, that is to say, Cryus.

But don't let that stop anyone looking to turn a fast buck by blasphemy and/or heresy, by any means, God Almighty will deal with that in His good time and means.

Well stated! But the Darbyite millennialist crowd will not relent in their proliferation of eschatological fantasies. Their course has been set for them by some of the most imaginative scripture twisters ever to disgrace the discipline of hermenutics.

Uhhh, excuse me BNU, but did you not mean Hermeneutics? I'm not normally nit picky about a misspelled word (seeing as how I can't spell), but that threw me for a loop.

I didn't know if you were referring to Hermes or alluding to the "disciples of a vacuum"..hmmm...maybe you were LOL

Your spelling is correct, fellow theologian.
OK, I got 4000 rounds of ammo for my AK-47.

Jus' don't come around here...
Hi all,

While it seems that the discussion has strayed far from LoveShack's original post; maybe this will bring us back.

From the book "What In The World Is Going On? -- 10 Prophetic Clues You Cannot Afford To Ignore" by Dr. David Jeremiah, published by Thomas Nelson, Inc., in 2008.

Even though the Antichrist is identified by that name only four times in the Bible, he appears many more times under various aliases. He is also called:

1. "the prince who is to come" (Daniel 9:26 nkjv)

2. a "fierce" king (Daniel 8:23 nkjv)

3. "a master of intrigue" (Daniel 8:23 niv)

4. "a despicable man" (Daniel 11:21 nlt)

5. a "worthless shepherd" (Zechariah 11:16-17 nlt)

6. "the one who brings destruction" (2 Thessalonians 2:3 nlt)

7. "the lawless one" (2 Thessalonians nkjv)

8. "the evil man" (2 Thessalonians 2:9 nlt)

9. the "beast" (Revelation 13:1 nkjv)

Yes, the Antichrist is or will be a true figure, a world leader, who will rule the earth during the seven year Tribulation. And, he will not be your nice guy next door; he will be a very evil man guided by Satan -- and, in the last 3 1/2 years of the Tribulation, Satan will actually possess the body of the Antichrist.

That is a time no sane person would want to live through. My suggestion is that everyone get your advance reservation on the Glory Train. Then, you will not be here during the reign of the Antichrist; for you will be Raptured into heaven. Sounds like a win-win situation to me.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Sorry, the kaput Roman Empire still is no more. Will it ever come back? That would be of great interest. Hail Caesar, no less.

None the less, anyone arising from this bunch would be Caucasian. Obama just doesn't qualify.

Hi Freida,

Never have I thought Obama could be the Antichrist; he isn't smart enough -- and the Antichrist will be able to talk without a teleprompter (my thoughts only).

But the revived Roman Empire -- have you been paying attention to what is happening in Europe today?

Many of the signs are here; but, we still are operating on God's timetable.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill
