Up here, in the "Mile-Hi City", we just recovered from a Historic
event--may
I even say a "Weather Event" of "Biblical Proportions"--with a historic
blizzard of up to 44" inches of snow and winds to 90 MPH that broke
trees in half, knocked down utility poles, stranded hundreds of
motorists in lethal snow banks, closed ALL roads, isolated scores of
communities and cut power to 10's of thousands.

FYI:

George Bush did not come.

FEMA did nothing.

No one howled for the government.

No one blamed the government.

No one even uttered an expletive on TV.

Jesse J ackson or Al Sharpton did not visit.

Our Mayor did not blame Bush or anyone else.

Our Governor did not blame Bush or anyone else, either.

CNN, ABC, CBS, FOX or NBC did not visit -- or report on this category 5
snowstorm. Nobody demanded $2,000 debit cards.

No one asked for a FEMA Trailer House.

No one looted.

Nobody--I mean Nobody--demanded the government do something.

Nobody expected the government to do anything, either.

No, Larry King, No Bill O'Reilly, No Oprah, No Chris Matthew's and No
Geraldo Rivera.

No, Shaun Penn, No Barbara Streisand, No Hollywood types to be found.

Nope, we just melted the snow for water.

Sent out caravans of SUV's to pluck people out of snow engulfed cars.

The truck drivers pulled people out of snow banks and didn't ask for a
penny.

Local restaurants made food and the police and fire departments
delivered it to the snowbound families.

Families took in the stranded people--total strangers.

We fired up wood stoves, broke out coal oil lanterns or Coleman
lanterns.

We put on extra layers of clothes because up here it is "Work or Die."

We did not wait for some affirmative action government to get us out of
a
mess created by being immobilized by a welfare program that trades votes
for
'sittin at home' checks.

Even though a Category "5" blizzard of this scale has never fallen this
early, we know it can happen and how to deal with it ourselves.

"In my many travels, I have noticed that once one gets north of about
48
degrees North Latitude, 90% of the world's social problems evaporate."

It does seem that way, at least to me.

I hope this gets passed on.

Maybe SOME people will get the message. The world does Not owe you a
living.

You got that right PitBo$$.... Hypocracy at its best. It makes me sick to even read things like this... Denver, no call about snow, but they HAVE had their share of CALLS for help.

Looks like SOME people NEED to be 48 degrees North Latitude, but there are so many lies littered in there... there WAS news coverage, City/County and State workers HAVE been involved... ya think all those poor people have just sat quietly and existed while their whole world froze... nope, they didnt. It was all over the news. WAIT, I see something that isn't a lie... Bush was NOT there!!!! lol

But I tell ya, if you think PROBLEMS only exist in the South Eastern states, then you need to go north more often, west more often.. .. their problems are as bad, if not worse than ours.

This is just factious, and not even truthful at all.... Been THERE, seen THAT.

With your ****y attitude, YOU need to try to survive what happened in N.O. and watch you not say a word... Not have your hand out... Not ask for anything... Sheesh... I hope you are rich, because if you aren't you cannot afford to be throwing the rocks you throw... they will come back on you.
Wow,
You really are quite a lovely person arent you??? No if someone told me there was a mandatory evacuation I would leave the area, and if I lived in a flood zone my mtg requires Flood Insurance. If Wilson Dam broke and we experienced amazing hardships I would count on local government first, then State, then Federal. Not the other way around. And as a Texan, Houston was killed by their kindness. Drug arrests and violent crime are up 300 percent and welfare recipients are up 60% because they opened their doors to Katrina "victims". Texas would NOT make that offer again if they had known then what they do now. It's unfortunate but some people believe they are entitled to free things because of a percieved disadvantage.I hate it but there are bums and social misfits out there, and New Orleans was a haven....
Since you have developed such a love for me, because I disagree with your doggie friend, because I am pro life, pro gun, and pro economic growth thru Reaganomics, pro strong military, pro tort reform and anti welfare I take you distain as a badge of honor Komrade

Sheeeesh, you are Pro-EVERYTHING, so how can you be objective? Or judgmental?

I am very nice, if I am not provoked by a stupid post about someone's ills in Colorado... people that makes comments like you make are just here to aggrivate others, and it does work.

And just what does the Dog have to do with what "I" say.???? I am MY OWN PERSON, if you havent already noticed, and obviously you havent.
I can definitely see where Denver's Blizzard's and Katrina do have common ground on the weather front. However, they are completely different.

Just because there was a mandatory evac. in place for New Orleans, does not mean that everyone had the means and/or oppurtunity to leave.

It is kinda pathetic to lump everyone that was in Hurricane Katrina, into a big ball like that. Basically when I read this, I shook my head because you are using someone else's sad attempt at humor/insult, to label all evacuees as criminals, frauds, or all around stupid.

The people of Katrina, didn't have local firemen or police offers taking them food and fresh water, for days. A good bit of them didn't have shelter or a warm fire to lay beside. The ones that did have shelter were so cramped up that it had to be horrible.

So in this post, I find it a little distasteful to compare the two, just because Denver hasnt (yet?) asked for FEMA or federal assistance.

That's just my two cents. Smiler
You are absolutely correct Reflecting. You didn't hear the good people of Southern MS or SW AL whining and b****ing about "what is the gov't going to do for me" and they shouldn't have. The Gov't can't save you. If you live in a bowl or the coast, have flood insurance. All area's have their own cross to bear when it comes to weather, earthquakes etc.. When your time comes (and mine already has) step up, shut up and take care of yourself. The blleding hearts need to go back and do a little history check. Do a google search on the great MS river flood of the early 1900's and let me know how much the FED GOV'T did to bail them out.

Do you REALLY belive that the ONLY people who had their hands out for FEMA was in New Orleans? Get real, South Alabama, South Mississippi, and anyone else who could hitch a ride close to there had their hands out. If you really believe that N.O. was all that got trailers, money cards, free meals, clothes, then you have NO clue as to what went on down there.

Most people think of N.O. when talking about Katrina and the hand outs, but our Mississippi neighbors, and people in our very own state had the same benefits.

Wow, I just cannot believe you are that "out of touch" with goings on down there....

[B]If you were only making 200 a week (providing that wasnt 30 years ago) and STILL a Republican, then you made your own bed, and anything else I say would be construed dirty, so I will just leave it at that... you are a smart aleck, and I want nothing to do with you, or your stupid comments.... or stupid ideas anymore.

Wag your tail... but you will never measure up to THE Dog!!!
