Was Trent Lott Involved With a Gay Male Escort?

GottaLaff: Could this be true? The escort in question denies it but how does that explain "the email and other records?"

I've always been called fair-minded, so I'll post the update first:

It looks like a Washington DC-based blog called BigHeadDC is making claim that there was (or, is) a working relationship between myself and Senator Trent Lott. There are falsely pieced-together quotes that serve no purpose other than to sensationalize a completely fabricated scoop.

I will continue to offer a great sense of confidentiality to the people I see. I have not, nor have I ever seen or had contact with Senator Trent Lott. It's as simple as that. It never happened.

Benjamin Nicholas

What's up with that, Benjamin?

Now here's the allegation, via Daily Kos' lost (the BigHeadDC site is down due to traffic):

According to the post:

Once upon a time, there was a twentysomething boy-next-door type with reddish blond hair and a brilliantly white smile. Not one to shy away from attention, he wrote a blog called "Fifteen Minutes," and also became a freelance writer for various publications, including The Stranger in Seattle. He'd often focus on his non-traditional lifestyle as a gay male escort -- a topic that often fascinated his readers, which, in turn, helped him to garner a substantial amount of powerful business acquaintances through the years.

The boy happens to be real, and his "stage name" is Benjamin Nicholas. One of the politicos Big Head DC has learned he's alleged to have been involved with is the married Sen. Trent Lott, 66, who unexpectedly announced his retirement on Monday. Lott is well-known to have been against a plethora of gay rights issues throughout his terms in Congress. He was also good friends with Sen. Larry Craig throughout his time in Congress.

The Real Reason Trent Lott Is Leaving Early

Matt Corley: Lott seeks to join the "lucrative world of lobbying Congress" before "tougher restrictions" take effect.

Earlier today, news broke that Senate Minority Whip Trent Lott (R-MS) intends "to resign his seat before the end of the year." Lott will explain his plans in two news conferences in his home state of Mississippi later today.

Though the reasons for Lott's resignation are still unknown, a "congressional official" told the AP that "there is nothing amiss with Lott's health" and that "the senator has 'other opportunities' he plans to pursue." NBC News reports that Lott's "other opportunities" involve joining the "lucrative world of lobbying Congress" before "tougher restrictions in a new lobbying law" take effect:

While the exactly reason Lott is stepping down before he finishes his term is unknown, the general speculation is that a quick departure immunizes Lott against tougher restrictions in a new lobbying law that takes effect at the end of the year. That law would require Senators to wait two-years before entering the lucrative world of lobbying Congress.

PBA,

Among all your rumor mongering, this is the worst.

In fact, you are the somethingsomething boy-next-door type with reddish blond hair and a brilliantly white smile.

Answer me this? Were you born homosexual, or did you become that way?

DF

DF, For crying outloud, I posted the so call rumor for you to read and decide on your own. I posted it, I did not write it or start it. Sheeee. Down below I posted another Call the real reason he resigned.

DF says >>>>Answer me this? Were you born homosexual, or did you become that way?<<<<

DF, Why is it that name calling is so big with conservatives? The conservatives refer to democrats, or people that think differently from conservatives, as un-Godly, un-American, and the favorite name calling that the conservatives love to use is calling someone a homosexual, gay, or queer, to hopefully discredit the individual.

I could sit here all day and type no, I'm not a homosexual but what would it matter? You're trying to put a label on me and you don't even know me.
Let me say this, I believe in God and I know you don't but I don't attack you because you don't believe in God. That is one of your American rights to believe as you wish. I think homosexuality is a sin against God's laws but I don't attack gay people.

I do attack the closet gays that are being hypocritical, saying they are against it when they do it in the closet. The republican conservative politicians preach against homosexuals and talk about how moral they are and claim to be for God and resorting to the closet of their true selves.

If you were able to ask all the women that I have dated in my years, they would tell you I'm no where near a homosexual. But if you get a tickle and a thrill, then go ahead and call me a homosexual. Now you can resort to your closet. Wink

PBA..
I read your statements regarding closet homo's...
I think it would be quite dangerous to be one of one...OK! Why you asked?
Well! it has been my experience after a few tryst in the closet that you should watch out for those sharp wire coat hangers...they can get hung in just about anything...
Therefore since those few attempts at using every floor space in the house for recreational activity...I have placed the closets off limits...plus the shoe boxes falling at the most inapproiate time tends to tame things down a bit
