With the new hire of Nick Saban, the Auburn faithful are not getting as much attention or respect as they would like. They will do anything to get AUBURN in the news:

· Theft: An Auburn shirt and two pairs of Auburn pants were taken from a business in the 500 block of Avalon Avenue.

or maybe if they would just finish school and get a job this wouldn't happen.

Why even waste your time posting such trivial information AS IF it were related to Auburn University? This is neither relevant nor funny.
Even after the homerun hire of Saban, you don't have anything better to come up with to talk trash? We'll see how good Bammers' "savior" is next November....

In the meantime, try to be more creative in your future attempts to bash the current dominant college football program in the State.

i'm not slipping away from anything. i just think its funny that alabama fans think that just b'cause saban is there that they are going to beat us this year. no one knows to be honest with you. no one will know until november 2007 who wins. i pull for bama when they are playing but when it comes to the rival game i'm die hard auburn. they are both in alabama and any team that can make our state look good, more power to them. i just wish ppl would realize its just a game and not a political situation

Does it hit too close to home Sunshine? Sorry, just a picture someone sent to me after Auburn beat Alabama again this year. Thought I would share it in the spirit of amusement this thread was started with.
This article pretty much sums up how I feel about the sidewalk, fair-weather bammer fans (fan= one who didn't GRADUATE from the college they root for) or UAT alumni who are crowing about Saban:

It will be interesting what they crow about this November if Auburn starts counting on the other hand.....Perhaps, they will be drunker than the drunk bammer fan who met Saban at the airport, embarrassed herself and UAT, and then 3 hours later, got a DUI....how smart, NOT!!
You don't need to have attended the school you root for to be a true fan. When I was a kid, I used to sit in the truck with my Dad and listen to the games on the radio. Sometimes my Uncle and he would get together for TV games. Alabama football is very nostalgic for me, so I'll always be a real fan, not a fair-weather one.

I graduated from Middle Tennessee and I support their athletic program. When they play Bama, I wear blue. My Dad doesn't particularly care for it, but he's proud I have a degree so he let's it slide.

As for Saban, you never tell your current employer that you are looking at another job. If my boss asked me right now if I'm staying with this company, I would say yes. Saying no might mean I get fired. In reality, I've applied for another position recently and I'm just waiting for an interview. Saban did nothing wrong, he waited for the season to end and he left.
Looks like St. Nick already can't keep his mouth shut. Callin them Cajuns Coon***es is going get LSU all fired up when they meet this fall. Besides, he ought to have more sense than tell a reporter anything more than the time of day. Rule #1, answer the questions but don't volunteer anymore information. Rule #2 - Reporters ain't yore buddies. Rule #3 - When in doubt refer to rules #1 & 2

I don't have a dog in this race (I'm neither a die hard Auburn or Alabama fan but live in this state)...but I can honestly say that, if I were an Auburn fan, I wouldn't be disparaging Nick Saban. At least he let both LSU and Miami know that he he could possibly be taking another coaching position and didn't out and out lie like Tuberville did to UM. I'm simply being the devil's advocate here...

That would be fine. After all these years it's about time Auburn had a little glory. After all, Bama has won ten in row against Auburn before. Just let us know when you win that 12th National Championship.
$4 million can buy you lots of attention.

But will it buy an Iron Bowl victory? Seems like that may be the only way.

But if it doesn't... well, the road to a Bama NC goes through Auburn. TD did a pole where Bama fans expected a NC within 3 years like Saban did at LSU with no interstate competition. If he doesn't, it will be Shula Part II but twice the $$. Or maybe more.

As far as AUs fans go, we didn't do as good as we should have last year. But please don't feel sorry for us lacking in attention or recruiting. After all, we beat the #1 and #3 teams. Unlike Bama, we would have stuck behind Coach Tub even if he had lost those. We prefer to fire presidents and ADs.

DHS. And how old were you when Bama beat AU 10 times in a row? I mean the very last SEC game Bryant coached, he lost to AU and that run didn't take place afterwards.

Anyhow, most Bama fans I talk to were kicking slats out of their cradles last time Bama won 2 NCs in a row... Most have a clearer recollection of 5 straight AU losses.

Nope, not but one NC for AU. We lack name recognition outside of the SEC as our Perfect Season clearly demonstrated.

But all this aside, Bama we like your new stadium. Thanks for making us feel at home.
