The El Parian In Muscle Shoals Will begin a very varied Mexican buffet starting on the first weekend of March. The Buffet as I understand it, will only be done on the weekends. They are located close to McDonalds just off of Woodward. They take cards, and serve alcoholic beverages. They have an American style Mexican menu, but they also have a Old Mexico version style menu, which has more of the original Mexico flavor, as it has beef tonque taco's, etc...very tasty...highly recommend.
The new Fiesta Mexicana next to Save a Lot on Flo Blvd is real good. Chili Verde is great. We have eaten there twice two weeks apart and enjoyed food and service both times. I dont know their hours but kind of like Chinese, they hardly ever close. We eat Mexican alot and had been going to other Fiesta Mexicanas.
My favorite Mexican restaurant is Fiesta Mexicana. I've always been partial to the one in Cloverdale and even feel like it's better than the one on Florence Blvd east of Florence. My friend and I always choose the combination platter because you can pick up to 3 items with any sort of filling and it comes with rice and beans. Their lunch menu is cheap and filling...I particularly like the Speedy Gonzalez. Their salsa is tasty and was my favorite until I found even more delicious salsa at a restaurant in Birmingham. The margaritas on the rocks are pretty yummy.
Occasionally, just for a change, I'll go to Casa Mexicana or La Hacienda in Florence, but the Cloverdale Fiesta is still my fav.
What did I miss? What cooking class? I make guacamole, sopapias are easy, chicken mole, pazole, tacos, burritos, and nachos.I haven't found the nachos down here the way I make them.I fry quartered corn tortillas, place fried beans on top, then melt cheese on top of that, then a spoon full of guacamole, then a dab of sour cream topped off with a slice of jalapeno. These are very good.

What has everyone's experience been with La Hacienda in Florence?

I went there about 10 years ago, and the food made me sick. It wasn't even good enough to be worth feeling sick! I thought it was a fluke, so I went back two more times. I wouldn't have, except that I had a couple of friends who met up there often. The next couple of times were no better.

Thinking that things might change, or management might change hands, I went back a year or so ago. The service was ordinary, which is fine. But the food we ordered (enchiladas and burritos) was soggy, mushy, and basically tasted like a piece of bread that had soaked in sauce overnight and then been sprinkled with cumin. The price was fairly cheap, but that didn't help me finish my dinner.

Has it gotten any better? Have I only gone on 'off nights' and need to try once again? Or is it consistently like what I described above?

Heub , is their chili BETTER than chili's on Cox Creek Parkway ? I got their chili one time , it looked so dark and black looking I could not eat it.

Also how is their Tacos ? Are their prices reasonable ?
