She was 3 years old and lived in Vinemont, Alabama. Annie had lived with Neal and Janet Rogers and was their daughter so to speak. Little did Annie know that she would be the talk of the town, state and nation by the end of last weekend. Neither did she know of the horror to come that would take her life.

Why would she be? She was just a little beagle who loved to play chase, craddle in Neal and Janets arms, snuggle in the bed with them at night, and spread her love to everyone who wanted to pet her.
But last weekend, someone took Annie from their yard,as that would not be a hard thing to do, since she loved to be petted by everyone. Except the individual or persons who took Annie had no intention of petting her.
Sometime during that weekend, they either tied her down or hung her up by her legs and proceeded to slowly skin her alive. Peeling the skin back away from her muscles and tendons exposing them to the air and racking her entire body with pain.
It is not know yet if she was let go after they finished with her or she escaped from nearby. We do know that she was found by her family with her skin hanging in shreds, and dragging on the ground as she struggled to get to the arms of protection.
We do know that she was rushed to the Vet where it was determined the mutilation was so bad, and she in such pain that it was decided to put her to sleep to end the suffering.
Annie died craddled for the last time in the arms of her owners, looking in the eyes, seemingly asking, "why would someone do this to me?"
Monday of this week, Annie went for a drive in a car. Except instead of sticking her head out the window and allowing the wind to hit her face as she love to do, this time she was laying in a cold dark plastic bag frozen. Her only company on this ride was the darkness within the bag that surrounded her like a suffocating blanket. Her exposed muscles, tendons and flayed skin lay against the bottom of the bag, as she lay there with just the sound of the road notice filtering up through the bottom of the Cullman County Sheriff Department Unit.
The Unit was being driven by Lt.Phillip Lambert who was taking her to the Auburn University Forensics Lab. He had seen a lot of things in his profession but nothing like this, and it stirred the anger deep within that is so natural, but yet has to be controlled in this profession.
Once again, she was going to be pulled, stretched, and cut on with a knife. Tissue would be taken, along with stomach contents, anal examination for sexual abuse, etc. This was going to be done in an attempt to find the one piece of forensic evidence that would put ever who did this behind bars.

This difference this time,is the knife that would be slicing into her body was being used as an instrument of love and not as a instrument of torture driven by a twisted mind that apparently derives pleasure from applying pain to another living being.
No! this time she would not feel the searing sting of the knife blade, and scream in terror and pain. She no longer would attempt to struggle in her effort to get away from the person or persons inflicting such horror on her.
This time she could watch from above in a detached environment as the masked, gloved, and gowned technician dissected her body. This time she knew the cuts were done in an attempt to bring justice for her, and not to inflict pain and torture. This time, the person holding the knife did not have a smile or laugh as she screamed. This time, this person had a look of kindness, and tenderness in their eyes as they went about their business.
Sheriff Tyler Roden stated, they had put several investigators on this case, and was making every effort possible to bring justice for Annie.

Why would this be done to a small beagle who's apparently only goal in life was to bring joy to all who knew her?
Was it because someone decided they wanted to see what it would be like to skin a animal alive?
Was it for revenge, because of some transgression committed by a member of the family she lived with?
What is certain is people do not do anything without a motive. If the Sheriff Department can located the motive, then it will lead to the individual or persons responsible.
Regardless of the motive, the fact is there is a soul or souls that now walks among you and I who has a very dark side.
This individual does not think like you and I. Somewhere in their life the line that divides us from animals has faded, or just maybe they never had it. Usually when you see something like this, it is a very forboding sign of things to come. These type of personalities usually will do this again. In a lot of cases they probably have done this before, it just has not be discovered until this weekend. The danger is after awhile the mutilation of animals is not enough. They want to move into what it would feel like to do this to a human being.
That is why this case is not just about Annie, its about stopping what is likely to come in the future if this person or persons are not found.
The Cullman Animal Welfare Association and The Cullman Animal Shelter are asking for donations toward setting up a reward to bring justice to Annie.
If you wish to contribute, and any amount will be gladly appreciated, contact the Merchants Bank close to you and tell them you want to make a donation to the "JUSTICE FOR ANNIE FUND"

Do dogs go to heaven...? Well! I believe in this case Annie does, as she just went through HELL this last weekend.

AS I SIT HERE WITH TEARS ROLLING DOWN MY FACE, WITH MY BEAUTIFUL ****ER SPANIEL ON MY LAP AT THE COMPUTER AS HE DOES EVERY TIME I SIT DOWN, I JUST CAN'T GRASP THE FACT OF ANYONE WHO COULD DO SUCH A THING! I FOUND MY DOG WANDERING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD 5 YEARS AGO ALL BEAT UP AND SWOLLEN EYE AND BLOODY. I TOOK HIM IN AND HE LETS ME KNOW HOW MUCH HE LOVES ME EVERYDAY! LET ME GET A HOLD OF THE SICK, PERVERTED A#@HOLE THAT DID THIS! HE'S OR THEY ARE PROBABLY READING THESE COMMENTS THAT ARE BEING POSTED. IF SO, WATCH OUT! YOU WILL BE CAUGHT! I HAVE A VERY SHARP BOWIE KNIFE WITH YOUR NAME ON IT. THAT DOG DID NOTHING TO YOU! I TRULY BELIEVE IN CARMA! THAT IS WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO YOU! YOU BETTER HOPE THE AUTHORITIES GET YOU FIRST! SICKO!!!!!!!!!!
Am I the only one who can't watch these stories on the news? I saw a little blurb on one of the Huntsville news stations last night, and I had to close my eyes and cover my ears because it literally makes me nauseus anytime I see one of these stories.

Trader, I didn't read your original post because I can't, but I saw enough last night to know what happened, and I watched the very end about how to donate to the fund, which I will be doing.

If there was a way I could make a living and use my law degree to bring sick bastards like that to justice, I would do it in a heartbeat. I prayed last night that God would punish them severely.
UPDATE...
I spoke with the investigators on this case in Cullman County. They have now developed some very strong leads in the case, which they are pursuing today. While I cannot disclose some the details it appears this may have been a revenge type senario or at least at the moment, it is starting to appear that is the case...
There is a good possibility an arrest will be made in this case before too long...
They really need to find whoever did this and punish them to the max. Anyone who is capable of doing something like this to a poor innocent little dog is capable of doing much worse to a child or other human beings. It is a known fact that most serial killers start out by mutilating animals so it is imperative that they find whoever is responsible for this crime because they are a very warped-minded individual or individuals.

Revenge? They couldn't think of something different to do, if they just felt they had to do something, for REVENGE? Some people are just a total waste of space. I can't imagine the feeling her owners must have had having to put her down after she survived such an ordeal. I wish something could have been done to save her, bless her heart.

No LAW, you are not the only one. I cannot watch things like this on TV and I couldn't read the post once I realize where it was probably leading...I suppose I just prefer to pretend things like this don't happen. I can't watch the shows on the Animal Channel even if someone tells me, "it gets better".
I was driving down Atlanta Ave the other day and saw a young female pitbull, on a short leash, with old scars and new wounds all over her, running for her life down the street. I hung a u-turn to try to go find her again but she was gone. It later occured to me that I might have gotten hurt but I was following my heart. To any of you that know people who fight their dogs, please give them a swift kick in the nads. Then tell them it's just a little teaser from Salty. Mad I know, I know, I'm not acting like much of a lady.

Oh man. Frowner I am much like LawGirl here, yet I read your whole thread Trader.

How ANY person can hurt an innocent animal for no reason, makes me absolutely sick. Poor Annie, and Poor Doc too (on the link from Frankling county). There is no reason ever to ever hurt an animal that isn't attacking you or someone else. None. It makes me sick to my stomach that these "People" (I use that loosely, because to me, this scum doesn't deserve any lable that is normal) do this kind of stuff.

I feel anyone found hurting an animal/torturing an animal, or a child SHOULD AUTOMATICALLY receive the same harm and torture that they inflicted. I so wish I knew something to help either of the owners in these cases. I hope both find justice for their fur-babies. I cannot imagine how horrible something like this is to go through.

*hugs my dog and cat close*

The most dangerous animal on the face of this earth is man...
We kill for pleasure and call it sport...
Some say they are killing for food, yet will kill more than they need.
Some sick, twisted minds kill for the pleasure of inflicting pain.
Some just for the act of killing...
Yet! we call ourselves civilized...sometimes even humane...now if we can only start to match those words with our actions...we may be on to something.
Tonight my heart aches for not only the owners, but for Annie. Annie felt pain like most will never feel. Any of else would have given a months pay just to be within ear range and hear her screams of pain. If we had been, the individual would be behind bars, and hopefully we could have prevented most of the damage to her.
Yet! through no fault of our own we could not be there to rescue her.
If you want to help, then give some type donation as it may encourage someone to come forward.
The person who committed this brutal act is a psychopath and Yankee Witch hit the nail on the head when she cautioned to watch your children and grandchildren because there is considerable research evidence that shows this type act is a dress rehearsal for a much greater atrocity.
There must be a special place in HELL for this sub-human.
I don't think it's been stated here that there were two dogs. The other beagle had a gash in its throat, but apparently escaped before the maniac could do to it what he did to its sister.

I cannot comprehend... I find it hard to understand how someone can kick a dog or other animal in a state of anger, but that would be nothing to compare to this. What would this sick individual do to a child if he isn't caught?

And while some like Peter Rielly thinks a person grieves only two weeks or so for such a loss, I'm sure this family will hurt the rest of its life for their lost little girl. I read this article at breakfast the other day and promply went home and hugged my cat, whom I keep safely inside away from such trash.

No Sir! indeed!
99% of hunters follow the rules. I have nothing against hunting when the game itself has a fair chance.I use to deer hunt for years and enjoyed every minute of it.
But the rules changed over the years and it no longer became deer hunting as I grew up with.
I disagree with how deer hunting is allowed now.
When I was a boy, we had to hunt deer either with buckshot or slugs. No rifles were allowed. This meant you had to get fairly close to the deer before you could get a shot. Now! this took skill.
I do not see any sport in sitting high up in a tree, shooting house and shooting a deer over 100 yards away through a scope.
If you did not have the scope at least the deer would have a better chance.
To me that is not sport....that is deer sniping. No real skill needed other than a warm shooting house, coffee, time and finally a deer that walks by about 200 yards away. The deer has no clue you are even around at 200 yards.
There are some men who will kill several deer a year, even thou they no longer need the meat. What drives them to do this?
There are many varibles such as the enjoyment of the woods, being with other hunters,etc....but the one thing that most will not admit too is the thrill of the kill.
A animal just died for that person's thrill or pleasure.
I guess as I have aged, I have become more aware of life itself and just how precious it really is. In law Enforcement and medical field you see a lot of people die many different ways. In the middle of youth, you think the sounds, the sight, the smell, really has no affect on you. Then one day you find all those things have stuck in your memory as plague does to your teeth. They have become part of you, and that is a part that has become toxic to your soul.
This was brought into my reality when after working a double homicide all night, I went deer hunting the following afternoon.A deer was killed and as I walked up to the deer, the same blood smell assaulted my nose. My mind immediately took me back to the scene just 15 hours before.
That is when I realized I had to see and smell this for a living, but I could chose whether to participate in it as a sport. Thus I no longer deer hunt.
So! in this little post, there is no intent to degrade the hunter.
Individuals who do such acts as done to Annie and her mate are no longer of the human species. Somewhere in time, they slipped over the line, and the line once crossed cannot be crossed back over into the category of human again.
These things that walk on two legs appear as human, but they are far from it. It is imperative that this or these things be caught and put where they can no longer harm any living thing.
If this turns out not to be a revenge event and has no connection to the family, then we are deep Sh-t.
That only leaves performing acts such as this for pleasure.Individuals who do this are a walking time bomb. Time after time, history has shown us, it is not long before they graduate to human beings. That is why the State and Federal authorities should assist in the effort to capture those responsible.
