"To the man who says the president's office needs to be respected; he's right. But to say we need to respect the president that we've got now -- that man deserves no respect. He has no respect and he absolutely don't deserve any from anybody."

I did not say it, but TD published it.

It is not proper to call GW Bush an idiot , he does not fit the definition.
1) usually offensive : a person affected with idiocy
2) : a foolish or stupid person
But, the original meaning of the word fits too well.
FROM WIKIPEDIA: "Idiot" was originally created to refer to people who were overly concerned with their own self-interest and ignored the needs of the community. Declining to take part in public life, such as (semi-)democratic government of the polis (city state), such as the Athenian democracy, was considered dishonorable. "Idiots" were seen as having bad judgment in public and political matters. Over time, the term "idiot" shifted away from its original connotation of selfishness and came to refer to individuals with overall bad judgment–individuals who are "stupid". In modern English usage, the terms "idiot" and "idiocy" describe an extreme folly or stupidity, its symptoms (foolish or stupid utterance or deed).

Well he might, but then it depends on the definition of is. As in Bush "is" an idiot.

Strange that I became nostalgic for the good old days over the last quote in the You Said it Feature, "Santa, please bring Britney and Lindsay some panties for Christmas. Please." After all, this was published a week before Christmas.

Note to self: "Don't click on the Politics thread."
I am taking you comment as a statement of disagreement. I guess that you don't think Bush is an Idiot.
What exactly do you consider him?

Is he a great leader, bringing wealth and honor to the American people?

Is he a military strategist on the lines of Ghengis Kahn? Kahn ALMOST conquered the Known World.

Is he as brilliant as Napoleon? Another world leader who ALMOST conquered the Known World.

Is he the kind of leader that Adolph Hitler was? Another leader who ALOMST conquered the Known World.

Do you think Bush is "making the world safe for Democracy?"

Do you think that Bush is resisting the domination of the world by some nebulous and internally divided religion?

Do you think that we are threatened by IDEAS AND RELIGIONS?

Do you think that our ideas and Religions should Dominate the thinking and behavior of the whole world?

You have to read the whole line FatNoMo. War is war, the only good human being is a dead one. George Orwell.

Orwell was a prolific writer, and he turned some fine phrases.

I'm fat, but I'm thin inside... there's a thin man inside every fat man.
George Orwell

If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face - forever.
George Orwell

In our age there is no such thing as 'keeping out of politics.' All issues are political issues, and politics itself is a mass of lies, evasions, folly, hatred and schizophrenia.
George Orwell

And, he has something for everyone.

Liberal: a power worshipper without power.
George Orwell
