I am SURE that the advertisers DID pay for putting whatever ads they had in the paper, and their sales booklets.

This is horribly unfair though. I got a Montgomery Paper one Thanksgiving a couple of years ago, loaded to the gills with sales papers, and at least twice as big as TD and they did NOT charge one cent more for that day's edition.

Talk about GREED, it is in every BIG BUSINESS, even the ones we think we trust.
Welp, I know I won't be buying a paper that day. I don't do the sales, -so- paying $1.00 extra for sales paper that I won't use, is SO not appealing anyway. I hope those that do like to go to the sales, chooses not to buy either, because that's just utterly sad. They are charging DOUBLE for the sales papers- Basically.

I think it's sad that everyone is becoming so greedy these days. Even local papers are gouging where they can. It's Pathetic. *shakes head*

I think Monster said it best. It's kind of like cutting your nose off to spite (or is despite?) your face.

I just got through talking to a group of people at work who buys papers from machines. THEY brought it up, NOT ME, about Thursday's paper going up.

They all said that the sales paper is NOT worth paying that for, nor is the principal of it either. TD is getting MAJOR bucks for putting the sales papers inside the itty bitty newspaper and yet the public is PAYING to find out what is on sale and where.

General consensus from those here at work: Don't have to buy a paper, EVERYWHERE has something good on sale for those who want to shop, so no paper is needed, especially with the fleecing going on.

So, I guess that is it for the most part. People already know that every store in this area are having sales, and most seem as though they are just going to take their "chances" and go to their favorite store.

It is SAD that TD is doing that to us.
Well...we paid the $1.50 for a paper. We didn't know of the price increase until we got to the news stand. But we needed the paper so we could mark the sales we want to hit & what time to get there. My husband goes in his truck, my daughter (in-law) & I in my Explorer so we can each get what we want. Wink

I did call the TD last year and complain about the price of the paper being doubled. I also asked if the subscribers had to pay extra for the same paper and was told "no". I brought up the fact that even the Washington Post didn't charge extra for a paper full of sale flyers that most people don't look at and just find annoying and you know what the man said? He basically said too bad, so sad. I asked him if the advertisers don't pay them a fee for their ads and he said yes. I asked him if he thought it was fair that they(the TD)were also charging the customers extra for the same ads and so basically they were double dipping and he said they could do whatever they wanted to and if I didn't like it I just shouldn't buy the paper. And he wasn't nice about it. It was apparent that they don't really care what we think.
