Maynard Keynes was a homosexual. Like many of our local homosexuals, he later married a woman. He supported his long time partner, the artist Duncan Grant, until his death. How civilized.

You mean John Maynard Keynes. Yes, he had a homosexual relationship with Grant, and yes he supported Grant until his death. He also married a woman. Perhaps he was bisexual? Was there a reason you decided to state the obvious? You left out the part about his theories being so influential, even when disputed, that a subfield of Macroeconomics called Keynesian economics is further developing and discussing his theories and their applications today. John Maynard Keynes had several cultural interests and was a central figure in the Bloomsbury group, consisting of prominent artists and authors in Great Britain. His autobiographical essays Two Memoirs appeared in 1949. You could read it to find out more about the man and the economist.

And you can read the letters of Duncan Grant as well. Google is wonderful.

I don't bother myself with his personal life, however he was very influential with big government types. I think it was because strongly advocated abolishment of the gold standard.

This allowed the governments and elite private bankers, like the Fed to print and manipulate money at will. Allowing them to operate with zero accountability.

IMHO he was an extremely intelligent man. He just happened to sellout the wealthiest, most powerful people on the planet.

Fiat currency destroys the purchasing power of money, making worth less and less.

Interesting. This article indicates that Keynes actually saved capitalism by encouraging government spending. http://www.time.com/time/time100/scientist/profile/keynes.html

Keynes, as he predicted, is dead. The Austrian or Chicago school of economics long surpassed his idea of a command economy. The idea that Government can manipulate a market with success over a long period showed cracks in the US and is dragging most of the EU down.

I totally agree. Encouraging the government to spend money it does not have is foolish in the long term. History proves this out.

Where does the government get money?

1. Taxes.

2. Borrows from other governments or it's citizens.

3. Let's the Fed print it out of thin air and then borrows it.

And if government has shown us that it is grossly incompetent, why in the world would we give it the power to waste any more money?
