I don't think I even come close to having a political affiliation anymore. I think they are ALL crooked.

But I meant what I said above, Iraqian leaders have come out in the News for a LONG time now asking us to leave. They SAID they could handle it by themselves now.

But look at the benefits they keep getting while we are still there. Compare that to at least 30-40 Cops around the clock right in your own little neighborhood protecting you. Guess they like that part of it.
Let's just say for the sake of argument that President Bush gives a state of the union address tonight at 8 pm and announces that effective September 1, 2007, every single troop will be pulling out of Iraq for good.

When everything blows up in Iraq when we are gone, what will people say then about us leaving? Oh, I know. We will then be the heartless nation who went to Iraq, stirred the pot, and then pulled out abruptly without leaving the people in good hands. Among other things. Anything and everything will be said in an effort to make the Republican party and W look like a bunch of idiots.

We are there. It's done. We aren't leaving anytime soon.

With the 2 warring sanctions that occupy Iraq, no matter when or IF we ever get out of there, they will have their own civil war. That is pretty much a "given" from every one of the Politicians I have heard speak so far.

We are only delaying the inevitable of the two parties they have over there. They will fight, they will battle to the death. That is their Culture, and if we stay 100 years, their culture will still be their culture. We will never change that.

Oh we might be able to change a small, select FEW, but never will we be able to change the country.

And IF by chance, we ever achieved that, which we won't, then all the surrounding countries will come in and gobble Iraq up when we do leave. Whether it is one day, one week, one year, one hundred years... they could care less, they are very patient people. They have proven that to us already.

Lets assume for the sake of argument that Iraqian was a word.

Now can you cite specific examples of "Iraqian" leaders who have asked for the U.S. to leave? Please list the date, title of the "Iraqian", and statements made.

Please reread what you wrote. When did Iraq ask for our help? They did not ,WE INVADED on the lies of WMDs. Check on the history of religous wars going on in Irag(and other middle eastern countries),,its nothing new, its not going to "blow up" just because we leave, they have been at war among themselves for MANY YEARS.
You are right about one thing,we entered,we did "stir the pot".

dogsoldier, I'm not sure what you meant by that statement. Do those who die during a training mission rate our admiration and gratitude any less than those who die in combat?

Many years ago, my cousin was in the Air Force. Sadly, I was only a few years old and do not rememeber this great-nephew of my father. He was flying what is called a round-robin training flight, during which his plane encountered turbulence and broke up. Three on board died in the explosion, while three parachuted to what should have been safety. Two of the survivors did fall to safety, but my cousin fell amid some rocks on a mesa, where he broke his leg and was unable to walk.

The Air Force personnel who arrived forbade a search party to look for my cousin, ostensibly because the plane was carrying between one to four hydrogen bombs. This occurred in January 1961--as JFK was giving his inaugeral speech, my cousin was giving his life for his country. When the searchers were finally allowed in and found his body, it was still warm. My cousin may not have been a Congressional Medal of Honor winner, but I still consider him to have been a hero. He gave his life for our country, and, sadly, I don't think it was necessary.

Wow, VERY SAD thing here. I am so sorry this had to happen, and so sorry it happened in your family. Things like this just break my heart.

But you are correct, he gave his life for our Country!!!! He is a hero in my book!!!

I wrote exactly what I meant. I don't need to re-read it. My post has nothing to do with whether we went there uninvited or not. I don't recall the US sending an invitation to the Taliban, either.
In reference to the statement that anything and everything will be said to make Bush look like an idiot, sorry, but he has already done that himself. Please name one other president of our country that has allowed himself to be caught in the position of being photographed shooting the bird(one finger salute). How childish was that?

As to the war,it has already been stared,We need to win it,whatever that is going to take!We definitely don't need to stick our tails between our legs and run like we did in 'nam.
I think about everyone has had their fill of the Bush/Cheney regime'... Democrats AND Republicans.

Most people now are concentrating on trying to find an HONEST (YEAH RIGHT) and upstanding person who has only the USA's best interest at heart.

They have been campaigning for months now, and we have another year + to go, so I just bet there will be a meeting of the minds right here on this forum between now and then!!! And that, will be a good thing Smiler

then please explain how things are going to 'blow up" because we leave a country with a long history of war among its own people? Taliban are located mainly in AFGANISTAN,who we were supposed to be at war with anyway, not spending billions of dollars and American lives overthrowing Saddham. Bin Ladin is STILL a free man,he was the mastermind behind 9/11 .

The Iraqi leaders haven't asked us to leave. The "testy" remarks from Maliki are in response to people saying they aren't doing what they are supposed to be doing. They don't want us to leave YET. Yes, they are tired of us being there, who wouldn't be tired of military from another country being everywhere in your country? But they know that for now it is necessary.
As far as being over there for oil. Yeah? Oil like it or not is an essential for our country's life to continue as we know it. The Military is here to protect our interests. I could just imagine the MAJOR complaining if there was gas at $8 a gallon because we didn't want to go into Iraq.
K S I know you say you talk to some soldiers who are over there. I can give you names of hundreds who are over there now also that do not agree with what you say your soldiers are saying...

Then I guess your Soldiers and my Soldiers will agree to disagree to put this all behind us and build up AMERICA once again.

I used to have 11 on email that were in Iraq, now I have about 30. I hear from each one of them about 2 times a week, some every day. I also have a few friends who are on the Soldier email list to help keep them company and offer nice comforting words.

I guess if I were to go around and gather names, we would probably be even. But I respect the opinions of yourself and your list of Soldiers.

The thing is, I talk to these people a LOT, and I have talked to several who are now at home, and what they say EVEN NOW as to what they said in email is much more negative.

You give the impression that all our Troops are just glad to be there, but they aren't. They are glad to be serving the Country they Love, but just like you, and just like me, THEY have their opinions too.

The VAST majority of this country is of the belief that Bush/Cheney and Co. opened a can of worms that not many know how to ease out of.

But bottom line is, I pray to God that he keep each and every one of our Troops safe, and He holds them near and dear to His heart!!! They shouldn't have to be there anymore.

If there leaders did NOT want us to leave, then WHY are they coming out on the news SAYING so. I think we should respect their leadership and do as they ask.
We have apparently forgotten Sukarno (sp) in Indoneasia and the billons he got from us before throwing us out. I guess my opinion would have to be the next time one these camel riding towel heads shows up with sandfleas up to his wazoo, just tell him or her to go to one of his calf eyeball eating neighbors for help. we have enough here to take care of.

I am thankful for all that you are doing from your heart to talk to and support soldiers. That's wonderful. I see you being so outspoken about how awful you think Bush is and how wrong you think the war is. I am simply offering my opinion. I am proud of President Bush. He does what he knows is right no matter what the majority says. The majority isn't always right. That takes tremendous guts to continue on doing what is best for the country when most people don't see it.
I too support troops, which I would venture to say make up a large part of the 30% or so who support President Bush.
