Hi all,

I am thoroughly convinced that if, by some divine act of God, the word STUPID were to be taken from the vocabulary of all atheists -- they would spend the rest of their lives tongue-tied, unable to communicate.

Who wants to join me in prayer for divine intervention?

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

I don't necessarily believe in CrossPosting but given the statement above, to start off this thread, I feel it appropriate so I will re-post it here as well as having it in the "Dear God" topic.

GBRK Posted today, Sunday at 11:03PM under the DEAR GOD topic the following directed to DF or NotShallowNotSlim:

Well we can all rest knowing that you have no preconceived bias or prejudges at all.  Are you falling back into that same rut that many non-believers do where they cannot simply argue the merits of their own belief system but have to retort to demeaning those who believe differently?  Can we be respectful enough not to use insults or insulting terms to apply to those who choose to believe in God or some Religion?  They have just as valid and good of reasons to believe the way they do as you do the way you do yet again you seem incapable of recognizing this.  Someone who didn't know better might consider that arrogance

It would be comical that number of times that this becomes consistant with some of the atheist and non-believers if not for the fact that I fully believe these people have a firm conviction and belief that they are so superior and do believe just what they type.  It's not anything new though ... consider the following

Acts 17:18 (NLT)
18 He also had a debate with some of the Epicurean and Stoic
philosophers. When he told them about
Jesus and his resurrection, they said, “What’s this babbler
trying to say with these strange ideas he’spicked up?”
Others said, “He seems to be preaching about some foreign gods.”

and

1 Corinthians 1:18-25 (NLT)
18 The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed
for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very
power of God.
19 As the Scriptures say, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise
and discard the intelligence of the intelligent.”
20 So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars,
and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom
of this world look foolish.
21 Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never
know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish
preaching to save those who believe.
22 It is foolish to the Jews, who ask for signs from heaven.
And it is foolish to the Greeks, who seek human wisdom.
23 So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are
offended and the Gentiles say it’s all nonsense.
24 But to those called by God to salvation, both Jews and
Gentiles, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.
25 This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human
plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of
human strength.

Yeah the times have changed but the players remain the same.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

You'd still have me to deal with, BeeG.

I rarely if ever use that word.

I know even better ones.

GBRK says "have to retort to demeaning those who believe differently?  Can we be respectful enough not to use insults or insulting terms to apply to those who choose to believe in God or some Religion?  "

You must have missed the point.  No surprise there.

No, NO ONE is "stupid" for beleiving in god or Gods.  Deluded, perhaps, but that remain to be seen when we all power down for good.  What is demonstrably stupid, idiotic, insane, beyond belief, is that you choose to reamin stupid in your knowledge over somehting that you pretend to care so much about: the scientific theory of evolution that is THE foundation of all modern biology.  Your fundamentalist religious beleifs will not allow you to even pick up a book and actually learn what the theory means.

Evolution does NOT deny a god any more that the discovery of heliocentric solar system denied god.  You don't find many people who don't accept that the sun is the center of the solar system.  In a few more generations, it will likely be just as rare that people believe man evolved from a lump of clay.

Yes, GB, when you proudly proclaim ignorance and outright stupidity, you should expect to be ridiculed, demeaned and insulted.  There is a cure for it: Read a book.

Just to throw this out there:

Since the Bible begins:

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

And since the definition of Creationism is:

Creationism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Creationism is the religious belief that humanity, life, the Earth, and the universe are the creation of a supernatural being.

It would be hard for any person who believes in God to NOT believe in Creationism.

Ergo, all Christians are stupid according to atheists.

As DA likes to say: Typical.

I know you are playing with them now Ram, .... Remember it is atheist you are talking about and you do know their FAVORITE word.   Therefore deduction would be that the book he is referring to is:

The IDIOT's Guide to Evolution.  I bet he has one on smart phone or tablet if he has one.

Gb your conclusion is definitely of no greater generality than his premise that one could read “a book” and have sufficient knowledge about the theory of evolution.

Based on his past fornications in the archway to the truth; I would not atall be surprised at this book you mentioned being his authority.

Good call.

believing in a creator isn't stupid.

allowing that belief to blind you to the simple factual realities of science and education is what makes the 'stupid' word come out.

going into a cathedral carved from stones that are millions of years old, while insisting the earth was made 6k years ago is stupid.

not taking your child to the hospital because you know the lord will provide any healing the child needs is stupid.

saying that the bible is the direct literal word of god, because the bibles TELLS us that it is is stupid.

interpreting scripcture to prove your point and then claiming that the bible is the literal word of god is stupid.

believeing in god, and the bible and jesus, in and of themselves, is not stupid.

discounting reality because it conflicts with what the book tells you is stupid.

Inventing 'truth' to make the bible right and science wrong is also stupid, of the highest order.

"when god created the world, he created so that it was already billions of years old."

that sentance, said to me by a CoC preacher when i was a child, might be the grandfather of stupid.

at 8 years old or so that sentance jarred me hard and made me think  "wait... why would he do that? that doesnt' make any sense? there would be no reason for god to do that. is this old man just makin stuff up as he goes?"

but to be fair.. i don't know that such a blatently ignorant idea is even being taught anymore.. it was, but i can't say if it still is. does any one know for sure? i hope not.

Not kidding. It is a book that you should read. I don't expect you to. You don't want to risk learning something that you don't want to know. It presents solid, irrefutable science in a way that even you can understand. If you choose to stay ignorant, then that is your problem.

Yeah?  I was just reading where one of those solid, irrefutable science theories just fell by the wayside when another one superseded it.   Now in a growing number of scientist minds Dinosaurs are found out to actually be warm blooded  or that's what the article was proposing.  Regarding books the same could be said about the Bible, solid, irrefutable word of God and just as you dogmatically believe this book is infallible so to many believers feel that the Bible is.  It all depends on who you ask.

So now we are starting to see where your belief/faith lies.  Part of it relies upon "The Greatest Show on Earth".  Actually I think that phrase was also used to refer to the Ringling Brother's Circus Show .. show as in entertainment value.  Never know they could be related for I believe Ringling Brothers made extensive use of monkeys also.

Good grief jimbo I’ve read enough reviews of the book to see he is the laughing stock of the scientific community. Microbiology, an observational science, has left paleontological or zoological observations behind.

jimi unless your next book you recommend is not this tall [three feet] it will not even begin to explain evolution.

Dawkins even had the gall to argue with my fran Carl Sagan's ole lady Lynn Margulis.

gb,

The notion that late-era dinosaurs were warm-blooded is nothing new.  It's been speculated for decades, on solid evidence.  This is not news.  After all, modern day dinosaurs, the birds, are warm-blooded.

Nothing Dawkins has ever written is infallible, nor would Dawkins himself claim it to be so.  He'd be the first to appreciate an advancement of knowledge that rendered his current state of the art knowledge moot.  If you read "The God Delusion" you'd know this.

Science changes, it builds upon itself, it improves itself, it contains no dogma.  These are a few of the reasons why science and reason is superior to religion.

Can't you see it, man?  Can you really not see this?

Hi Deep,

Yes, science changes because mankind is learning more about God's Creation.   "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1) -- including all the sciences and all the laws governing those sciences.  Then, He let it lay there waiting for the "more brilliant than God" atheists to find.

You see, that is one of the major differences between science and the Bible.  Science changes as man's knowledge grows or as his societal norms change.  The Bible never changes.  God "a u t h ored" it once; and never saw reason to change it.   That is one of the anchors of our faith -- God never changes.  He was, is, and always will be -- our God, perfect in all ways.   And, one day, we will be with Him face to face.   I really would love to see you join us.   Care to give Him a try?

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Yes NSNS. Instead of just putting people on Earth as we are today, bill's god thought it would be fun to make mankind "work for it". AND after he makes mankind work for it, he's going to take them away from it to some creepy place in the clouds and raise some hell on Earth to punish the non-believers in as gruesome a way as can be imagined. (If you listen to bill and his ilk). Now NSNS, don't you want yourself some of that good god love? Think of it NSNS, you can float around on a cloud and look down and see people being tortured, some whose only "crime" was not believing in bill's god. Good people burning on Earth and in heaven all the Karla Faye Tuckers, child rapists, Manson family members, that "accepted jesus" along with bill, looking down. Dang, how could anyone not want some of that love?

I would like all of these brilliant atheists to tell us where the heavens and the earth came from.

Irony accepted, the bottom line is that it's not love.  Christianity and Islam are religions of hatred and bigotry.

In the end, they are religions that relish the idea of Hell for everyone not of their own superstitions.  Any school of thought that depends on violence to defend itself is, by necessity, corrupt and evil.

I know very little about Islam, so I'll take your word on it.  The principles of Christianity are the polar opposite of the principles of hate and bigotry.  Unfortunately, there is a small but vocal group of self-proclaimed "Christians" who twist the message of Christ to one of hate and bigotry.  Please don't lump all Christians with the fundamentalist wackos.  You are smarter than that.

Crusty, I'm smarter than the average bear, but Christianity and Islam are religions of hatred and bigotry.

Only hateful religions would threaten nonbelievers with everlasting torment.  No human being, except perhaps Jesus and Mohammed, has ever been so cruel.

Both of these religions disparage those who do not accept them.  The blessings of love only apply to their own.  They threaten them with Hell.  This is hatred and bigotry defined.

The 'love' that Jesus and Mohammed pursued was directed to those who agreed with them.  And none other.  Scorn, ****ation, and hellfire await those who do not accept their "love".  What sort of monsters were they?  What sort of horrible demons were the prophets of the Old Testament who practiced genocide, murder, slavery, rape, child-murder, filocide, mysogeny, and torture in the name of a loving, generous god?

They are, at best, the vicious recountings of the barbaric values of primitive tribesmen.  It is to the discredit of modern humanity that such traditions exist in any fashion other than myths in dusty anthropology textbooks.

DF

There is a core underlying reason in deeps past that has altered his genetic makeup to a point they will be inherited if he has children. If not he will be responsible for environmentally induced changes on others.

Genes that might otherwise be prompted to allow for a belief in God are suppressed and less desirable decisions are the final outcome.

Only Bro Bill has the patience and staying power to save him. Eventually Bro Bill will force genetic adaptations on deep’s part and deep will evolve into a man of the cloth.

This possibly will not occur in their lifetime but in some existence after death. Let us all pray this may be the case.
