I truly believe God can do anything.  Salvation, healing, answer to prayers, or the Holy Spirit all do not conform to the laws of nature.  Just because a person does not get the particular answer from God doesn't mean God fails.

I'm sorry that you have these health issues, I truly am.

But the Bible plainly states, "Ask & ye shall receive". It doesn't say you might receive. That would cover  someone asking for something in particular.

If you truly believe that God can do anything, & you've  ask God to heal you of this disease, why hasn't he?

And if you haven't ask to be healed of it, why not?

My questions are not meant to be rude, I'm just curious.

YES!!!! Those things do happen today!

Hi Jennifer,

You, in true atheist form, tell us, "Ah yes, Helen Keller.  Truly a wonderful god love story.  Eighteen month old normal child that god decided he could use by making her so ill she became unable to hear, speak, or see.  Yep, your god is so good."

Let me ask you a question.  If Helen Keller had not had those afflictions, do you think you and I would have ever heard of her?  Do you think she would have gone on to impact the world, especially the world of the deaf, dumb, and blind -- the way she did through the portal of her afflictions?

No.  If not for that illness, Helen Keller would have been just another pretty, young, affluent girl growing up in Tuscumbia, Alabama.  Yet, look at the wonderful things she did -- through her afflictions.

Obviously, you have never heard of Joni Eareckson Tada, who, as an active, athletic teenager suffered a diving accident.  The accident left her as a quadriplegic.  At first, she was bitter with God.  But, she soon learned that God had great plans for her in her wheel chair.

For many years, Joni has been actively sharing her love of God with people all over the world -- through her singing, through her writings, and through her speaking engagements.  I have seen her in person and can tell you she is an amazing woman.

Do you know what she says of her affliction?  She thanks God for it!  She tells us that, even if she could go back to the old Joni, the one with a healthy, athletic body -- she would NOT do it.  She is extremely happy with the life God had given her.

Now, you would say she is nuts.  You would most likely say she is lying.  But, I can tell you that the many, many people, around the world, whom Joni has led to the Lord through her affliction would tell you that you are very wrong.

I have a small plaque I keep on my bookshelf.  It reads: "Happiness Is NOT Getting What You Want; But Wanting What YOU HAVE."   And, that, my Friend, is not a bad way to live this brief mortal life.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Well, Crusty, from your remarks, it certainly doesn't SEEM that you have faith in prayer. It doesn't seem that whatever it is you DO have faith in could be even close to the God that *I* have faith in, if you can tell me I am unquestioningly and blindly accepting Him.

You MAY be one who believes in some sort of "higher power". But that is NOT the same as the Faith in Jesus that I have.

So, let me amend my statement: MY faith is neither unquestioned nor blind. I could turn right around and say to you that your lack of faith in JESUS, is due to your blindness.

But as I said, that will get us nowhere. Whatever it is you believe in, you are welcome to it.

I find it convenient that you don't ask God for anything you can't find on your own.  As to my faith, I don't find God interfering in our day-to-day lives, and I wouldn't expect him to.

Okay, Wooly, I'll ask you.  If God answers all those prayers, why does always say "no" to amputees?

I usually stay out of these religious discussions but you have peaked my interest with these statements Dwight. Can you provide any evidence? Can you provide any proof? Where is this " right crowd" you speak of? Why aren't the news networks all over this? You'd think that raising a person from the dead would merit at least a few interviews and scientific studies. You'd think Christians would be shouting it from the rooftops. I am genuinely interested in this. This is huge. I look forward to your reply.

Bill, your idiocy is almost to much to stand sometimes.

Let's see, would anyone in the world want to be struck deaf, speechless, and blind so that the "world would hear of them"? hmmmmmmmmmmm-NO. You have no idea what would have become of her, none at all. IF you think it's so grand why not expose yourself to something that would give you the afflictions she had?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Never heard of the woman you mentioned but she sounds nuts.

=======================================================================

I have a small plaque I keep on my bookshelf.  It reads: "Happiness Is NOT Getting What You Want; But Wanting What YOU HAVE."   And, that, my Friend, is not a bad way to live this brief mortal life.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why, at the age you and your wife are, are you still chasing after that almighty dollar if you're not wanting and trying to get more??  You can dress it up anyway you want and put a big ribbon  on it, but still, it is what it is. A horror story.

Ah, but Crusty, I HAVE asked Him for something that NONE of us can find on our own. That is His presence in my heart, and in my life. If I hadn't asked, He wouldn't be there. (He won't come into a place He hasn't been invited to.)

And several years ago, when I asked him to TAKE OVER my life and run it, He brought me to my perfect home -  and I had NO IDEA I was going to be moving. When I told my boss I was giving my notice so I could move 2,000 miles away, to a town where I didn't know a soul, I was just as surprised to hear that come out of my mouth as the boss was. All my friends thought I was crazy, and I kept telling them, "I'M not doing this - God is!" When I got here, I said to Him, "Lord, you have given me so much in this life, I hate to ask for anything else, but, could you show me my life's work?"

It was after that, that the guitar students started pouring in - so many that I didn't have time to work a regular job. So I quit my job and taught out of my home. It was a short time after that that I met a man who owned a building in town. He was about to lose his tenent, and the price was right, so I signed the lease and opened a music store. Once again, I had NO IDEA I was going to do that, and believe me, it SCARED me. Now, five and a half years later, in THIS economy, I have a waiting list for students, I have 50 or so great guitars hanging on my wall, I have jam sessions every Saturday, and I'M STILL PAYING THE BILLS.

Now, how could I have done it on my own? In the middle of a perfectly normal afternoon, suddenly the idea popped into my head and right out of my mouth, that I was moving two thousand miles away from everyone I knew, to a place where I didn't know one single person. And businesses are closing right and left, and let's face it, guitars are a luxury item, not a necessity. And yet, my business is doing so well I have to turn students away, even though I have others who teach here as well, and I am CONSTANTLY having to go guitar shopping.

God WANTED me here, doing what I am doing. Perhaps it's because I am supposed to influence "my kids" (students). Maybe it's because the jam group is supposed to do something for Him. Maybe it's because if I had stayed at my job or at my old home, something BAD would have happened. I really don't know.

What I DO know though, is that since I stopped plotting and planning my life, and just followed wherever He leads me, my life, and I hope the lives of those around me, have gotten so good sometimes the joy is overwhelming. I TRUST Him.

Now, I only hope that if He gives me something tough to do, that I will have the fortitude and the joyful willingness to comply. Every day I ask Him to let me do His will. If it is His will that I should lose a limb, or give up the music store and become a missionary or something, I'd like to think I will be just as willing as I was to move here and open the store. I owe Him everything, and I want to do everything I possibly can to make HIM happy.

Hi Jennifer,

IF you had ever been a Christian -- I am sure you would have heard of Joni Eareckson Tada.   But, you say you have not, I guess that settles it.

You might try to Google her.  She is an amazing woman, as was Helen Keller.  Both women greatly blessed by God  -- and both women greatly used by God.  We should all be so blessed.

Regarding chasing the almighty dollar -- if you call doing a VERY non-profit Christian writing ministry for the past 20 years, 12 full time on the internet -- chasing the dollar; I must ask:  Where did all those dollars go?   I could use a few of them in our present economy.

No, my Friend, I am afraid the sum total of my earnings from my Christian writing ministry comes to the grand total of:  THIRTY POSTAGE STAMPS IN 1994.

Now, if you would like to contribute financially to this ministry -- I promise you it will be appreciated.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Dwight, We're going to go watch a movie before the power goes off here at midnight but I will try and check back in later on my laptop to see your reply. Am still looking forward to reading it. Later gator!

Hi Crusty,

Yes, I have read that Helen Keller was a Socialist and very Liberal.  I will take your word about the ACLU.   However, that does not negate the fact that God did great works through her and her affliction.   God can use anyone to His glory.   Look how He used Pharaoh to His glory while the people of Israel were being brought out of Egypt.

Why, Crusty, God can even use you to His glory.   Matter of fact, He does.  Every time you write an anti-God post -- and one of we Christians refute you and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ -- God has used you.  Isn't that amazing?

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

And Satan uses you, Bill. Every time you open your judgmental mouth. You should be ashamed, trying to convince people that you're a Christian. You may fool some, but not all. Isn't that amazing?

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. After the movie a buddy of mine came over and I ended up riding to Athens for a while. Didn't get to bed till around 5:30 this morning. LOL

I may email you later on today after I get woke up good. I have your contact info now so you can take it down off the forum if you'd like. I actually would suggest you do. It's never a good idea to put personal info(especially phone #'s) up for the public to see out here in cyber space. You never know who or what kinda of sicko is looking but I will leave that up to you.
