Hi.
DeepFat here. It's time we had a little chat.
First, let's get Mr. Green out of the way. He has a point. You know it. Governmental agencies like high schools have no business in religion. This should be obvious from 5th grade civics. An 11 year old child can grasp this.
Second, it's time we had an adult chat about the legitimacy and truthfulness of religion. Your religion, another religion, all religions. Let's face it, if they had any legitimacy, they would not be religions. They would be science. At least philosophy. Religion is the insanity we allow each other, and in the process we allow respect for our mutual insanity. This keeps us from having to examine the truth claims of our accepted insanity. There might be some psychological necessity for this, but I can assure you it's not universal.
There are those among you who have examined the truth claims of religion and found them wanting. Badly wanting. Let's all grow up here, and admit that Adam and Eve, the Flood, Jonah and the fish, Tower of Babel, and Jesus as the one and only Son of God is entirely fictional. Can you admit that the fairy tales of ancient sheepherders is a suspicious basis for a philosophy of reality?
If you want to accept concepts such as Original Sin on an allegorical basis, we can talk, but you have much to demonstrate. If you want to posit that the Bible is literally correct in every detail, then you must demonstrate that your position is not insane. You know why. Ask me if you don't, I'll respond with little words.
I'm all ears. The recent religious friction in the Shoals has been both unpleasant and necessary, not to exclude other qualities. Jeremy Green was right. Do you disagree? Tell me why, but be careful, I have the Constitution and reason on my side.
There is a reason why Jeremy Green called out the LCBOE. It was wrong. Jeremy was right. I think things worked out rather friendly. No lawsuits filed, everyone walks away as friends, justice and political philosophy is served. The Constitution remains in effect.
So, all my new friends from BLWP. Hit me. Give me your best shot, but please keep it intellectual and civil. I'll admit I have much to learn. Can you?
