Hi to my Forum Friends,

Earlier I posted the comments below in the discussion I began titled "Home Town Proud!"  But, I feel that this information is too important to hide at the bottom of another discussion.  This is information we all need to read and understand.  So, I am posting it as a new discussion, even though I realize it will tick off a few atheists, secularists, liberals, legalists, and just plain old vanilla-flavored non-believers -- especially my few loyal followers and fans:

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Hi all,

NOW THAT I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION -- you may wonder why I called this meeting.  Maybe we can clear up a few misunderstandings -- such as the fact that the Supreme Court, i.e., the Judiciary Branch, has no power to make laws, only to rule on the applicability of them to the Constitution.  ONLY Congress can make laws in the United States.

U.S. CONSTITUTION (1787)

Section. 8. - Powers of Congress

The Congress shall have power . . . To make all laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into execution the foregoing powers, and all other powers vested by this Constitution in the government of the United States, or in any department or officer thereof.

AND,

Amendment 1 - Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression. (Ratified 12/15/1791)

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or  abridging the freedom of speech, .  .  .

Clearly this First Amendment tells us that Congress cannot pass any law which would establish a national religion or church such as the Church of England, when King Henry VIII wanted to divorce his wife, Catherine of Aragon -- and the Pope denied his right to divorce.  So, old Henry evicted the Pope and established his own church.  Sort of like the atheists and secularists are trying to evict God from America today.  But, our founding fathers assured that no one, not Obama, nor the Congress, nor the atheists and  secularists, could establish a ruling church in America.

Our founding fathers wanted to assure that every American could worship where and when he/she wanted -- or not to worship if they chose.  However, the founding fathers were also wise enough to recognize that one day atheists and secularist would slither into America wanting to declare their religion of Atheism, or as I prefer to call it, the Religion of Nothing, as the ruling religion of America.   Thus, the First Amendment prohibits even the Church of Nothing from being the national religion or church of America.  Praise God for the wisdom He gave to these brave men who were our founding fathers.

And, that, my Friends, is the way it was -- and the way it is today -- in spite of Far Left Leaning Liberal Justices, Judges, and current Executive administration.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Are you dense, BeeG?

I know ya must be tired of getting your ass handed to ya pretty much every time ya turn around.

LOL!! Whaddya carry spares??

Again, atheism is not a religion. It is a lack of belief in ANY gods.

I see that either you, like lots of others misunderstand the point of the atheist's complaint and subsequent result, OR you are USING others' mistunderstanding to attempt to further YOUR OWN agenda.

No atheist that I'm aware of is telling christians that they can't pray.

I don't think your attempting to twist the constitution will work out any better than your attempts to twist scripture.

You're still apparently a lone nut on a streetcorner.

Hi Salt,

No, I do not have the right to come into your home with a bullhorn forcing myself and my beliefs upon you.  What the First Amendment tells us is (1) the government cannot declare any one denomination or church as a national religion.   And, (2) the government cannot deny me the right to worship my God in any church or denomination I choose.

And, with the Freedom of Speech provided in the First Amendment, I do have the right to stand in any public place I want and pray or share my belief.  If you do not want to hear what I have to say or when I pray -- walk away.  You have that right guaranteed also.

On the other hand, I cannot force my way into you home demanding I be allowed to pray in your home.  But, public domain is not your home and I have a right to share my faith there.

This is what our Constitution, specifically the First Amendment, assures me and you.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Hi Jennifer,

The last time I checked -- they are still called PUBLIC SCHOOLS.    Of course, the ACLU Mafia will disagree with that.  But, what the hey -- what's a good Mafia for?

Self improvement exercise for today:  SMILE!  God loves you!

Or, as I always tell my Friends, "Give a smile away -- and it most often will come back to you!"

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Call them whatever you want to call them, you still can't pray at their events.

anyone that wants to pray at a school event can do so best. Whats wrong with yo noggin?

Anyone can pray aloud in any public setting and even on public property.  Where there is a problem is when public property is a tool to promote religion, such as the case of a prayer being recited over a PA system owned by the public or more specifically, a public school system.

The 1st Amendment provides for the free exercise of religion but it also prohibits government endorsement of a religion or any religion.

Here's my take on this - A prayer doesn't need to amplified electronically for God to hear it.  If God is what/who we believe him to be, we don't need a public display of how good of a Christian we are: he knows what is in our hearts.

You know what I meant, what have you been raving about for the last few days. Read old salt's post. And that is all this mess about praying before games is about, showing people what christians you are. Ahhhh, but we have seen what christians you are. The mask always slips.

Here's another way to look at it:

The 1st Amendment provides for the free exercise of religion and the 14th provides for equal protection under the law.

So, a Christian students gives a prayer over the PA system.  Does a Muslim student get the same opportunity?  No?  Then you have violated that Muslim student's free exercise of religion as guaranteed by the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment.  A Jewish student wants to give a prayer?  A Hindu student wants to give a prayer?  A Buddhist student?  A Zoroastrian student? A Rastafarian student?  A  Pastafarian student? etc...

If one religion is accommodated in the public school, then all must be.  What we end up with is making a mockery of all the religions.

This is so elementary, Bill, that it should not need to be said. However, when dealing with persons such as yourself, whose rational faculties are about as dense as depleted uranium, it is sometimes necessary to state the obvious.  In this case, Bill, the obvious is this: PUBLIC SCHOOLS ARE INSTRUMENTS OF GOVERNMENT!  Indeed, it is the very fact of their being PUBLIC SCHOOLS that brings them within the ambit of the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment and the constraints imposed therein.  Nowhere will you find the "ACLU Mafia" asserting that public schools are not public schools.  If you disagree, then put up the goods to support your reckless accusation. If you can not support it, then man up and admit you are wrong.*

*Fat chance of that, given Bill's forum history.

Bill isn't fooling God but he wants & needs a public display to convince others of his Christianity. That's why he's on this forum.

Hi Chick,

If you choose to not be my Friend -- not a problem.  I still consider you my Friend -- and I still ask God to do a mighty work in you and to bless you and your family.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill
