We should have started doing something about the gas prices 30 years ago, but instead our country just sit around and did nothing at all. Now if it falls to $2 per gallon within the next thirty days, let's don't be stupid and stop trying to find alternative fuels, let's don't be trapped into their game again, even if it does fall to $2 per gallon, right hand side of site "Gas could fall to $2. i.e" http://www.marketwatch.com/

I doubt if we will see $2 gas again.
You are correct tho, regardless of the cost at the pump, the price we are paying in virtual slavery to oil producing countries , plus the cost to the planet of continuing pollution is horrible.
We must rebuild (or actually now build) our transportation infastructure and think about other ways to get around without using so much oil.
We haven't built a Refinery in 30 yrs, that tells you that the oil companies want to keep the supply tight so the prices will stay high, if we had more oil we wouldn't have the Refinery capacity to Refine it, now we want to make Ethanol out of corn, Why? to make the price of everything associated with corn go up, you can make as much Ethanol from one stalk of sugarcane as you can 7 Ears of corn, they will tell you probaably that we can't grow sugar cane, we did when I was a kid, but that would make too much sense, unless the American people change out everybody in Washington and demand that they listen to the people instead of the 3500 lobbyists, that is 77 for each represenative and senator up there nothing will change and we will deserve what we get.

Yes, the exact reason we should get the hell out of Iraq ASAP.
That war is draining our country of it's financial resources. UBL stated that his goal was to destroy the financial base of the US. Bush is doing that for him.
We should elect a president and congress that has the goal of leaving Iraq ASAP, not 4 more years of W's destructive policies.
In addition, we should not be the rent-a-cop for the world. The Gulf War in the early 90's was a real coalition of NATO nations to rid an ally of an invading force. This current quagmire in Iraq had a "coalition of the willing" made up mostly of the US and Bush's lap dogs, the British, with other bullied countries providing a hand full of troops and support. Now, most of them are gone, and a lot of the British have pulled out, leaving only us to foot the entire operation. Dumb arrogant commander-in-chief with ulterior motives, and a rubber stamp congress without any balls to stop him.
