While walking through Walmart, mine eyes didst behold some sodium hypochlorite solution (bleach) in the department where swimming pool equipment and supplies are sold. The label indicated it to be 10 percent strength, which is substantially stronger than the same chemical product sold as laundry bleach and for other purposes.  It is sold in full one-gallon (128 ounces) containers, whereas most of the makers of laundry bleach have taken to reducing their "big bottle" to 96 ounces.  The swimming pool chemical is only $2.50 per gallon.  If you dilute it with about two thirds of a gallon of water and mix it well, you will then have 1  2/3 gallons of laundry bleach for only $2.50.  If you compare this to the prices charged for common laundry bleach, you will see that this is a very good buy.  Also, virtually all laundry bleach is not labeled as to percent sodium hypochlorite, but the highest concentration sold is somewhere around 8.5 percent.  Most brands are less than this. Do your own in-store comparisons, and you will see that the pool stuff is a bargain.

Use common sense mixing and diluting the stuff, since 10 per cent sodium hypochlorite will bleach your clothes instantaneously and can irritate skin and eyes.  Don't get it on ya!
