5,000 Troops have Deserted Since War Began
U.S. Army Plagued by Desertion and Plunging Morale
ELAINE MONAGHAN / The Times (UK) 10dec04

While insurgents draw on deep wells of fury to expand their ranks in Iraq, the US military is fighting desertion, recruitment shortfalls and legal challenges from its own troops.

The irritation among the rank and file became all too clear this week when a soldier stood up in a televised session with Donald Rumsfeld, the US Defence Secretary, to ask why the world's richest army was having to hunt for scrap metal to protect its vehicles.

Headlines : "War on Terror"
More U.S. Soldiers Deserting Than Reported

Summary:
The Army has every reason to under-report the number of actual desertions they have been experiencing over the last five years or so during the bogus “war on terror.” The last thing they want is the soldiers realizing that they can just walk away. It really is that easy. Of course, there are potential consequences, but these must be weighed against the potential consequences of war and combat.

Another useless shot at stiring people up. Mr Rumsfeld was thrown under the bus on November 8th.

Another useless shot? You know I thought the same thing until this was back up by the Right Wing Media that was aired last night.
