Couldn't help but notice while traveling back from Huntsville to Florence and driving through Madison how things are growing up.  Among the growth are two new, large, Kroger stores.  One is complete with new side stores and restaurants popping up around it but another Kroger, not far at all from the existing one, is also going to be built just the Athen's side of the new Super Walmart built in Madison along Highway 72.

I remember shopping, years ago, at Kroger and always thought it was a very good store with great values.  I also enjoyed shopping at Winn Dixie but sadly both Kroger and Winn Dixie have left the Shoals market.  I'm glad to see an investment from Publix in the area and I believe Publix to be a step up in quality from all other grocery stores but I would love to see one of the new Kroger super grocery stores pop up in the area as well.  Maybe the area is too saturated what with ALDI and WalMart's entry into the markets that threaten Big Star stores but I was just impressed with the appearance of the new Madison Krogers and am glad to see growth in the North Alabama area.

I, too, think you are right, about the growth of Madison, Alabama.  That town seems like it's growth, at present time, is boundless and over the next few years will help assure that Huntsville, Alabama will potentially be Alabama's largest metropolitan area.

I know at one time, years ago, there was very optimistic talk about Birmingham becoming the South's newest and next "Atlanta" but that never materialized.  Guess in the coming years we'll see if the talk and forecast about the Huntsville area becomes true.

Huntsville has annexed more land than Atlanta. Hope to see it as an economic hub, but not too big.
